Giant cashew puffed sticky rice sets Vietnam record

Cashew puffed sticky rice has just set a Vietnamese record at the Dong Nai Food Festival 2025, impressing with its giant size and unique flavor.

On the evening of August 20, within the framework of Dong Nai Food Festival 2025, Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) officially set the record for "Largest fried sticky rice with cashew nuts in Vietnam".

According to the Dong Nai Province Chefs Association, the fried cashew sticky rice dish is made from glutinous rice, cashew nuts, sugar, etc. by the Association’s chefs. After being fried, the sticky rice has a crispy golden crust, while the inside still retains the soft, fragrant sticky rice and the characteristic nutty flavor of cashew nuts.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh, Chairman of the Dong Nai Province Chefs Association, said that the record-breaking fried cashew sticky rice has a diameter of 68cm and a height of 39cm. This is the result of a collective effort, not only creating a dish imbued with the identity of the homeland but also contributing to promoting the specialty of Dong Nai cashew nuts, one of the largest cashew growing and processing regions in the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Records Institute, General Secretary of the Vietnam Records Organization, emphasized: “This record is not only impressive in size, but also a unique blend of the quintessence of traditional Dong Nai cuisine and Binh Phuoc cashew nut specialties. The dish is both attractive in form and flavor, and demonstrates the connection, cultural exchange and spirit of unanimous development of a new Dong Nai after the administrative merger”.

Ms. Ngoc assessed that the record of fried sticky rice with cashew nuts is not only a technical milestone. This is a strong affirmation of the creative spirit, pride in the homeland and the aspiration to reach out of the government and people of Dong Nai, in the journey of integration while still preserving traditional cultural identity.
