Stirring clip of Sam Son sea water having two colors

On June 17, a clip was circulated on Facebook showing a black circular streak in Sam Son seawater, along with the content that the seawater was suspected to be dirty.

Regarding this issue, speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thanh, Chief of Office of the People's Committee of Sam Son City ( Thanh Hoa Province) said, we are verifying and re-checking.

However, according to Ms. Thanh, this could be due to the tide. This phenomenon appears after heavy rain, at the mouth of the Ma River flowing into the sea, the water color is more cloudy, due to containing a lot of alluvium. Meanwhile, the sea water in Sam Son is blue, so at the junction between the river and the sea, two different water colors appear.

"In Sam Son, the wastewater treatment systems of restaurants are checked very carefully, there is no such thing as water flowing from the sewers as rumored," Ms. Thanh added.

It is known that previously, on June 22 and 23, 2023, in the Sam Son sea area, two distinct colors of blue and turbid water also appeared. After inspection, the authorities determined that the phenomenon was due to the tide.
