Handling overlap and duplication in Banking Inspection activities

(Chinhphu.vn) - The Government Inspectorate emphasized the review and handling of overlaps and duplications in banking inspection activities in the Draft Decree on the organization and operation of the Banking Inspectorate.

The Government Inspectorate has just issued a document commenting on the draft Decree on the organization and operation of the Banking Inspectorate.

Accordingly, for the annual inspection plan of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) region, the Government Inspectorate proposed to amend it in the direction that the Chief Inspector of the SBV region drafts a draft and submits it to the Director of the SBV region for comments on the policy, then accepts, completes the draft, issues it and organizes its implementation, to conform to the spirit of the Inspection Law 2025.

In addition, the Government Inspectorate's comments also emphasized the review and handling of overlaps and duplications between the State Bank Inspectorate and regional State Bank Inspectorates, between regional State Bank Inspectorates, and between provincial Inspectorates and other inspection agencies.

According to the Government Inspectorate, the Draft needs to supplement the rights of inspection subjects and stipulate principles of bank inspection in accordance with the Inspection Law 2025.

At the same time, the Government Inspectorate proposed to consider the regulatory basis of some specific contents such as: Authority to request independent audits to serve banking inspection; anti-money laundering functions; written agreement when appointing the Chief Inspector of the State Bank of Vietnam as well as regulations on public disclosure of inspection conclusions.
