25 million VND fine for two cars with the same blue license plate

Ha Tinh Vocational Training and Youth Employment Services Center and Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan and his wife were fined 25 million VND for not revoking the registration and arbitrarily attaching a blue license plate to the vehicle.

According to the decision issued by the Ha Tinh City Police on April 9, the Ha Tinh Vocational Training and Youth Employment Service Center, under the Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union, was fined VND6 million for not complying with the revocation of vehicle registration and license plate. The center sold a 5-seat Ford Laser with license plate 38A-1169 to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hoa, 36 years old, residing in Ha Tinh City.

Ms. Hoa was fined 7 million VND and had her driver's license revoked for 2 months for driving a motor vehicle with an inspection certificate and technical safety and environmental protection inspection stamp that had expired for one month or more .

Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan (Ms. Hoa's husband) was fined 12 million VND for the acts of using a vehicle with a license plate not issued by a competent authority and using a vehicle that is past its expiration date . The penalty decision is based on Decree 100/2019 and 123/2020.

Working as a used car buyer, Mr. Tuan bought a 12-seat Toyota Hiace, then added the license plate 38A-1169 to the car. Upon verification, this was an old car of the Nghe An Provincial Department of Transport, with the old license plate 37A-1989, blue background, white letters and numbers. The car went through the procedure of revoking the registration and license plate on July 10, 2023, and was sold to Mr. Hoang Van Hoa, residing in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province. Mr. Hoa then sold the vehicle to Mr. Tuan.

Currently, Ha Tinh City Police have revoked Mr. Tuan's driving license for 2 months, confiscated the official license plate 38A-1169, and temporarily detained the 12-seat Toyota Hiace for investigation. The investigation agency will verify and handle the act of Making and using license plates not issued by competent authorities .

Previously, two cars with the same license plate were often parked about 15 meters apart on Vo Liem Son Street, Nam Ha Ward, Ha Tinh City. The leader of the Traffic Police Department (Ha Tinh Provincial Police) affirmed that sharing license plates is against regulations, and advised people who buy liquidated cars from state agencies to change the ownership within one month after signing the contract.
