According to Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Chau Thi Le, with positive signs of market recovery, export orders from businesses have increased, and import-export activities in the province are showing signs of improvement, especially in the first seven months of 2024.

Specifically, the import-export turnover in July 2024 is estimated at approximately 1.02 billion USD, of which exports are estimated at 630 million USD, an increase of 6.24% compared to the same period last year; and imports are estimated at 390 million USD, an increase of 9.86% compared to the same period last year.

Cumulatively from the beginning of 2024 to date, import and export turnover is estimated at over 7.1 billion USD, of which exports are estimated at over 4.3 billion USD, an increase of 14.33% compared to the same period; imports are estimated at nearly 2.8 billion USD, an increase of 15.88% compared to the same period.

With its current economic openness, Vietnam participates in global value chains and has signed free trade agreements, opening up many opportunities for import and export growth.

The Department of Industry and Trade regularly coordinates with relevant units to disseminate information on the content of agreements and commitments in each sector so that businesses can proactively prepare for market participation; regularly reviews and proposes the removal of barriers to businesses' production and business activities; actively supports businesses in carrying out trade promotion and market development activities; and supports businesses in applying digital commerce to market development.

At the same time, the Department coordinates with agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnamese trade attachés in various countries to welcome delegations of foreign businesses for exchange and trading, as well as to support the resolution of issues arising for businesses during the import and export of goods in the host country. Through this, it helps businesses understand the market, access customers, and have the opportunity to participate in the global value chain.

Sales revenue and contracts with foreign partners are secure, stable, and trending upwards.

According to a representative of Tan An Export Food Processing Co., Ltd. (Tan An City), a company with many years of experience in import and export, its main product is cashew nuts, which are available in most countries worldwide. North America, Europe, Australia, and China are among the company's main markets. Each year, the company supplies 4,000-5,000 tons of products to the global market, generating tens of millions of USD in revenue.

Currently, the company has gained more customers, and production and business in 2024 are expected to be stable. The company focuses on improving product quality and reputation, ensuring that products meet all established standards, thoroughly researching the market, expanding production scale, and introducing suitable product lines to develop the business.

According to Ms. Chau Thi Le, the province currently has over 900 import-export businesses. Their goods are exported to more than 130 countries and territories worldwide. Many products are exported to markets with high quality requirements such as the EU, the United States, Japan, and South Korea. The main export items are industrial goods, processed industrial goods, agricultural products, and aquatic products.

Looking ahead, import and export activities will face a mix of opportunities and challenges. The Department regularly provides businesses and enterprises with market information, prices, regulations, and changes in import policies of various countries to help them seize opportunities, enhance competitiveness, boost exports, and develop markets.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade is innovating and improving the effectiveness of industrial promotion, trade promotion, and supporting businesses in entering new consumer markets, especially demanding markets, in order to diversify export markets.
