
During the 95-year journey of construction and development, the Son La Provincial Women's Union has continuously promoted the tradition of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, overcoming difficulties and rising up. Organizing the apparatus, attracting members and women to effectively participate in union activities and movements. In particular, after implementing the policy of 2-level local government, the union's organizational apparatus has been streamlined, ensuring effective and efficient operations. The whole province currently has a Women's Working Committee, 3 affiliated union organizations and 75 commune and ward Women's Unions, more than 2,200 branches and more than 210,000 members.
Ms. Cam Thi Hong Duyen, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union, said: As a representative organization caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of women, the union at all levels always strives to innovate the content and methods of operation; promote emulation movements, programs, projects, and tasks of the union, support, motivate, and encourage women to rise up in life, promote creativity, and meet the development requirements of society in the new era, the era of national advancement.
The emulation movement "Building Vietnamese women of the new era" associated with building Son La women "Solidarity, humanity, friendliness, creativity, and aspiration to rise up" has been deployed in a rich and diverse manner; promoting the implementation of Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and lifestyle.

Implementing the campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's", the association's bases have focused on propaganda and building exemplary models for replication. Since the beginning of the year, the whole province has installed 177 "Clean house, beautiful garden" signs; launched 2 residential clusters "Clean house - beautiful garden - green alley"; 9 "Green house charity fundraising" models; 3 "Model women's route" models. Mobilized over 4,300 cadres and members to repair and clean inter-village roads; maintained 191 models of women participating in environmental sanitation in the locality; supported 61 households to build hygienic toilets, 23 households to use clean water. Striving by the end of 2025, supporting 204 households to meet 8 "5 no's 3 clean" criteria, helping 204 women's households escape poverty.
Supporting women to develop comprehensively, build prosperous, progressive and civilized families, all levels of the association actively coordinate to participate in activities and local celebrations; organize cultural exchange programs, arts, competitions in all levels of the association to celebrate holidays and New Year. At the same time, well implement social security activities. Since the beginning of the year, all levels of the association have given 1,413 gifts to groups, individuals, poor women members, orphans, with a total cost of nearly 600 million VND. Effectively maintain the model of "Love Rice Box" to support poor women members, with a total cost of nearly 300 million VND, more than 8,000 workers, more than 4 tons of rice. Mobilize 1,800 members to participate in health insurance. Visit and give gifts to war invalids and families of meritorious people, with a total cost of more than 200 million VND. Support households affected by natural disasters; donated 10 savings books to poor women; provided financial support for 226 children in the "Godmother" Program....
To enhance women's economic empowerment, every year, the Provincial Women's Union coordinates to organize the Launching Ceremony of "Savings Week, Joining Hands for the Poor". Up to now, the total amount of savings has reached 3.5 billion VND. Creating conditions for women members to access preferential loans, with 1,049 savings and loan groups, creating conditions for nearly 35,000 households to borrow, with a total outstanding debt of more than 2,200 billion VND. Implementing Project 939 "Supporting Women to Start a Business", from 2019 to now, 161 ideas have been supported by the union to materialize; 31 cooperative groups, 18 cooperatives managed by women have been established by the union; 844 women members have been supported to start a business and start a business.
Successfully developing its own coffee brand, helping women earn more income and linking production with farmers in the region, Ara-tay Coffee Cooperative, Muong Chanh commune, has made a deep impression by affirming the position and role of Thai ethnic women in economic development in the locality. Ms. Cam Thi Mon, Director of the Cooperative, said: Established in March 2020, the Cooperative has 14 members, of which 11 are female. In addition to 20 hectares of coffee of its members, the Cooperative also cooperates with 300 households in the area to grow 70 hectares of raw coffee to purchase fresh fruit. The output of harvesting and processing specialty coffee is from 90 to 100 tons of fresh fruit/year. Currently, the Cooperative produces products including Natural green coffee beans, ground coffee, honey coffee and cascara tea. The annual revenue of the Cooperative is about 1.6 billion VND.

In building the Party and the political system, the women's union at all levels has actively propagated and mobilized women's union members to well implement the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State; ethnic and religious policies, maintain the great solidarity of ethnic groups; propagate to ensure social order and security. The proportion of women participating in Party committees, People's Councils, Fatherland Front and mass organizations is increasing, many women hold important positions, promote their leadership and management roles, and are trusted by the people and colleagues. The 16th Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, has 10 female cadres in the Executive Committee, 3 women in the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee. In addition, to improve the quality of supervision and social criticism, the union at all levels also participates in proposing policies related to women, family, children and gender equality.
At this time, the Provincial Women's Union is actively directing grassroots organizations to organize the congresses of women's representatives at communes and wards for the 2025-2030 term, towards the Provincial Women's Congress for the 2025-2030 term; providing detailed instructions on the organization of congresses for non-merged commune-level women's congresses with 4 contents and for merged commune-level women's congresses, conducting congresses with 2 contents. Directing grassroots organizations to focus on drafting documents, determining the direction for the next term with a long-term vision, in accordance with the scale, members and potential of the commune after the merger. For non-merged communes, the personnel plan is built for the right subjects and in accordance with regulations. Since October 16, the grassroots women's congresses in the province have been held and it is expected that 100% of the women's congresses at the commune and ward levels will complete their congresses by October 31 and the Provincial Women's Congress for the 2025-2030 term will be held before December 31, 2025.

To celebrate the congresses of women at all levels, the Provincial Women's Union launched an emulation movement associated with learning and following Uncle Ho. The whole province handed over 7 "Shelters of Love", supported the repair of 3 temporary houses for members, with a total cost of 215 million VND; women's union members contributed 2,139 working days, joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Implementing the campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" associated with the implementation of the new rural commune criteria in the province, the union's grassroots units registered 204 works/tasks, contributing to the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas... creating a widespread influence, attracting members to respond and participate.
With the spirit of "Confidence - Self-respect - Loyalty - Responsibility", members and women in the province increasingly demonstrate their awareness and civic responsibility, are confident, proactively participate in social activities; actively respond to patriotic emulation movements, and achieve many outstanding achievements in all areas of social life. At the same time, they fulfill their roles as wives and mothers, are a solid spiritual support, unite family members, join hands to care for and build happy families, and contribute to building a progressive, civilized, and prosperous society.
