Due to her family's difficult circumstances and her only finishing grade 3, for many years, Mrs. Tran Thi Chut (Dong Thai village, Yen Phong commune) hardly read any books. Her life was tied to a small ham stall at the ferry terminal, along with worries about food and money. Until one day, Mrs. Chut learned about the Dong Thai Village Women's Reading Promotion Club - a gathering place for many women to participate in activities with diverse and practical topics such as gratitude, child education , family happiness, communication skills, sex education, etc. Each meeting is accompanied by an introduction of good and suitable books to help readers expand their knowledge, improve their understanding and apply them to the lives of each member.

Ms. Chut confided: “Since the club lent me books, I have been very excited. Every day, when I have free time or when there are no guests, I take the opportunity to read. Up to now, I have read about 20 books about history, culture, typical examples... The stories in them have helped me realize the value of life, see how lucky I am and try harder. In addition, I often share good, practical content, encourage my children and grandchildren to be active, diligently read books, accumulate knowledge, and apply it in their studies and life.”
The Dong Thai Village Women's Reading Promotion Club model was officially launched in 2024 with the aim of creating a space for women to meet and learn after hard working hours. From 32 initial members, the club has now grown to more than 50 people; each meeting attracts 30-35 members, mainly students and elderly women.
