The spokesman for the agency, Mr. Ashraf al-Qudra, stated that the Israeli forces tightened the siege and targeted Kamal Adwan Hospital, firing into the patient treatment room and the hospital yard. He feared that the 12 children being treated, who were lacking milk and had no life support equipment, could die.
According to Mr. Ashraf al-Qudra, Israel arrested hospital director Kamal Adwan and some hospital staff and "tortured and deprived them of food and water". He also accused Israeli soldiers of "preventing the wounded from reaching the hospital".
Earlier on December 12, a spokesman for the Gaza Strip health authority said that Israel stormed the Kamal Adwan hospital in the northern part of the territory and rounded up several men in the medical facility. Meanwhile, the United Nations Humanitarian Affairs Agency (OCHA) said that two pregnant women were killed when the maternity ward of the Kamal Adwan hospital was attacked.
In another development, on December 13, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby warned Israel about civilian casualties, after President Joe Biden announced that Israel could lose support for "indiscriminate bombing" of Gaza.
On the same day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that “nothing can stop” Israel from continuing the conflict in the Gaza Strip until the Jewish State wins against Hamas.
