BHG - Realizingthat education is the top national policy, in recent years, the Department of Education and Training (DOET) of Yen Minh district has always focused on improving the quality of education, mobilizing resources to invest in infrastructure, teaching and learning quality, and gradually creating equal learning opportunities for ethnic minority students, especially at key schools in remote, isolated, and particularly disadvantaged areas.
Being a district with a rich and diverse culture, people's lives are still difficult. Therefore, many families do not fully realize the importance of education as well as do not have enough conditions to care for, invest in, and encourage their children to study, and still leave it to the school, especially in Ethnic Boarding Schools (PTDTBT). Besides, there are still difficulties in investment resources for facilities, teaching equipment, lack of teachers, many combined classes and separate schools.

Faced with the above difficulties, the Department of Education and Training has actively implemented Project 1886 of the Provincial People's Committee on improving the quality of education in the period of 2023 - 2030 to meet the needs of training human resources to serve the socio-economic development goals of the locality and the country. Based on the actual situation of the locality, there are specific measures such as: Organizing and implementing "Real teaching, real learning, real exams, real quality"; improving the quality of education synchronously with all levels from preschool, primary, secondary and high school; focusing resources on ensuring facilities, equipment and teaching aids; focusing on building a team of managers and teachers with standard qualifications, professional competence, enthusiasm, responsibility, dedication to the profession...
Right from the beginning of the school year, schools in the district have focused on promoting and doing a good job of mobilizing families to send their children to school. Nguyen Duc Mien, Principal of Ngam La Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, shared: Since the beginning of the school year, the school has effectively implemented the mobilization of school-age students to attend school. This year, the rate of mobilizing children aged 11-14 to go to school reached 302/308 students, equivalent to 98.05% compared to the population of the age group; of which 285 children are studying at the school's secondary school, 11 children are studying at the primary school and 6 children are boarding at the district. In the coming semester, the school is determined to increase the rate of mobilizing children to go to school and enter high school, reducing the rate of repeating grades and dropping out.
As a boarding school, most of the students are far from home and have difficult family conditions, so the school always ensures the care and nurturing of students, ensures food hygiene and safety, and food rations according to regulations. Functional rooms, libraries, and educational equipment are used effectively, ensuring a friendly and airy environment for students to study, research, and create. In addition, the school regularly organizes extracurricular activities, innovates teaching methods towards creative experiences, career education; teaches traditional culture; promotes prevention and combat of violence, early marriage, incestuous marriage, and eliminates bad customs.
Comrade Tong Thi Ngan, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Yen Minh district shared: Receiving attention from all levels, we have promoted the socialization of education, encouraged learning, encouraged talents, along with a number of projects and plans to promote development in education. Up to now, there have been major changes in the district. By the end of the first quarter, the district had eliminated 10 schools, reduced 32 combined classes, and proactively allocated district funding for schools to become financially autonomous. Thanks to that, the shortage of staffing quotas was overcome, teachers were paid according to their qualifications and minimum wages, so 100% of schools in the district no longer had a shortage of teachers, and the whole district had 29/54 schools meeting national standards.
With a strong determination in education and training, Yen Minh district is gradually changing in a positive and sustainable direction. Investment in upgrading facilities, improving the quality of teachers, and innovating teaching methods in line with practice have brought about practical results. This is an important foundation for the district to continue to improve the quality of comprehensive education, contributing to training human resources to meet the requirements of socio-economic development in the new period.
