On April 30, Quang Ninh province welcomed 1,700 Japanese tourists to Ha Long port for the first time by the international cruise ship Pacific World, opening a new step in the strategy to attract high-quality international tourists, especially tourists from Japan, one of the key and potential markets of Vietnam tourism .

Pacific World, operated by Peace Boat Company (Japan), has docked at Ha Long International Passenger Port on its journey departing from Yokohama Port, visiting many destinations in Asia. This is the first chartered ship to bring Japanese tourists to Quang Ninh .

According to the program, 1,700 tourists will visit many famous tourist attractions in Ha Long City and Dong Trieu City such as: Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Museum, Ha Long I Market, Queen Cable Car and experience the countryside in Yen Duc, one of the community tourism destinations favored by foreign tourists.

A representative of the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Tourism said that welcoming the Japanese delegation by charter not only has significance in terms of the number of visitors, but also marks the expansion of the high-end international tourist market, contributing to diversifying the source of visitors and promoting sustainable development of the province's tourism industry.

According to the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh province has welcomed 28 international cruise ships, with more than 41,000 visitors. In just the last days of April, a series of large ships docked at Ha Long port.

By 2025, the provincial tourism industry aims to welcome 20 million visitors, including 4.5 million international visitors, focusing on high-quality markets such as Japan, Korea, Europe and North America.

Notably, the positive signals from the number of international cruise passengers in the first months of the year are the basis for expecting a growth rate of 15-20%/year for the cruise passenger segment in the coming period. The regular appearance of major cruise lines in the world is creating opportunities for Quang Ninh to become the leading destination for cruise tourism in Asia.
