As the first race in the Mekong Delta, Mekong Delta Marathon not only has sporting significance but also contributes to promoting the image of culture, people and landscape of Hau Giang to international friends.
This is an annual sports event organized by the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Hau Giang in coordination with Nexus Media Joint Stock Company for the first time in 2019 and has been maintained for more than half a decade.

This year, the tournament continues to receive support from the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam ( Vietcombank ), officially named the 6th "Vietcombank Mekong Delta" International Marathon in Hau Giang province - 2025, with the theme "Shine with you".
The race course is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), promising to bring standard and safe competition experiences to athletes.
This is also one of the races in the Vietnam Nexus Marathon Series (VNMS) system, operated by Nexus Sport Events - a unit with a lot of experience in organizing major running races across the country.
This year's tournament is sponsored by Vietcombank.
The opening ceremony will take place on the evening of July 5 in the center of Vi Thanh city, followed by a tree planting ceremony on the "Green Marathon Hau Giang Route" to spread the message of environmental protection and combating climate change - an urgent issue for the Mekong Delta region.
The tournament is expected to become the largest community sports playground in the region, aiming to raise awareness of health training in the spirit of the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", period 2021 - 2030.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity for Hau Giang province to introduce its tourism development potential to a large number of tourists.
The Organizing Committee representative provided more information about the schedule and competition route at the tournament.
In terms of content structure, the tournament is open to all ages, from primary school students to adults. The competition distances are divided by age and physical level, including: 1.2 km (for students aged 9-11), 2.4 km (students aged 12-15), 5 km (from 6 years old), 10 km (from 10 years old), 21 km half marathon (from 16 years old) and 42 km marathon (from 18 years old).
This year’s prize pool is worth over VND400 million, with male and female athletes who set new records in the 42km distance receiving VND50 million. Athletes who complete the distance within the specified time will also receive a commemorative medal from the Organizing Committee.
After 5 seasons, the tournament has become a familiar playground for domestic and international running enthusiasts.
In addition to the competitions, a series of rich sideline activities will take place throughout the event, contributing to creating a vibrant sports festival atmosphere.
Notable among them are: Hau Giang 2025 OCOP trade and product fair; exhibition of local socio-economic achievements; culinary area, culture - sports - tourism display, book exhibition, calligraphy writing; experiential tours in Hau Giang province and traditional folk cake contest.
