Los Angeles police (USA) announced that the suspect in the shooting that occurred in Monterey Park, California the day before had died, with the cause determined to be suicide. This suspect is believed to have killed 10 people and injured 10 others at a dance club during the Lunar New Year festival of Asian people, right in the center of Monterey Park.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said officers were following a wanted truck and heard gunshots coming from inside the vehicle as they approached. The 72-year-old suspect was wounded by gunfire and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say no other suspects have been identified in connection with the mass shooting. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the massacre.
The Lunar New Year festival in Monterey Park, which has a large Asian population, was scheduled to last two days, but police canceled the event on the evening of January 21 immediately after the shooting.
