Canada could impose retaliatory measures on $150 billion worth of US imports if President-elect Donald Trump imposes tariffs on Ottawa's goods and services, a source familiar with the matter said on January 15.

Canada has drawn up a list of targets, but will hold public consultations before taking action and the extent of its response will depend on what moves Mr Trump makes, the sources said.
Previously, the new White House boss said he wanted to impose a 25% tax to push Ottawa to tighten border security to prevent illegal immigration.
This would be devastating for Canada, which exports 75% of its goods and services to the world's largest economy .
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with premiers from 10 Canadian provinces earlier to discuss how to respond to potential US tariffs and a list of potential tariff targets the country could target, the source said.
The proposed countermeasures would fall into three categories, according to the report. If Mr Trump carries out his threat, Canada would immediately target a small group of goods, including orange juice from Florida.
After meeting with the premiers, Mr. Trudeau stated: "Nothing is impossible if the United States continues to choose to proceed with these tariff measures. Canada will respond strongly and decisively, but did not provide further details, because it is still unclear exactly what Mr. Trump will do."
The final statement from the meeting said that if Canada takes retaliatory measures, the government will quickly provide financial support to workers and businesses to help offset the damage caused by Mr. Trump’s tariffs.
