Many localities announced the completion of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.
On May 18, according to information from the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, from May 11 to 17, nationwide, 4 more localities held ceremonies to announce the completion of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses, including: Son La, Binh Dinh, Binh Phuoc and Hau Giang. Thereby, bringing the total number of localities with no temporary or dilapidated houses to 19/63 localities.
Specifically, Son La province has completed the removal of 3,058 houses, of which 2,653 were newly built and 405 were repaired. Binh Dinh province has completed the removal of 4,411 houses, of which 2,531 were newly built and 1,880 were repaired. Binh Phuoc province has completed the removal of 765 houses. Hau Giang province has completed the removal of 1,479 houses, of which 833 were newly built and 646 were repaired.
At the fourth meeting of the Central Steering Committee on the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide on May 11, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions said that 100% of localities have reviewed and determined the progress of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province to be completed before October 31, 2025, ensuring compliance with the target required by the Prime Minister.
In June 2025, it is expected that 16 localities will complete the Program. This list includes: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Binh Thuan, Kon Tum, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Soc Trang, An Giang, Ca Mau, Ha Giang, Ha Nam, Lai Chau. The remaining 26 localities strive to complete the Program from July to the end of October 2025.
Responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025", in recent times, the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has been considered by localities as an important task, accompanied by Party committees at all levels, authorities, sectors, organizations and people. Leaders of provinces and cities have closely directed, strengthened supervision and urged localities to speed up the progress of construction and repair of houses for poor households, near-poor households and meritorious families, ensuring quality, on schedule and for the right subjects.
Authorities at all levels focus on mobilizing resources from local budgets, national target programs, and support from organizations, individuals, and the community to effectively implement the program. Localities have had many initiatives to coordinate with construction material enterprises to reduce prices, support preferential loans for people, and closely monitor measures to avoid errors, ensuring the program achieves practical results.
