3 routes from Nha Trang to Da Lat that do not go through Khanh Le Pass

Tourists planning to travel from Nha Trang to Da Lat should follow the traffic schedule of Khanh Le Pass and choose alternative travel directions to the section affected by landslides.

Due to serious landslides on Khanh Le Pass, National Highway 27C, the 135 km route connecting Nha Trang and Da Lat through the pass has been interrupted since December 15. Currently, the route has not been opened to traffic, tourists traveling from Nha Trang to Da Lat can choose other alternative routes, as suggested by tour guides in Da Lat below.

Route via National Highway 1A and National Highway 20

- Distance: 450 km

- Travel time: 8-9 hours, depending on traffic conditions and vehicle.

Tourists depart from Nha Trang along National Highway 1A to the South, passing through Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces, Dong Nai. At Dau Giay intersection, Dong Nai, tourists turn right onto National Highway 20 to go to Da Lat city.

Traveling on your own: Tourists should be careful when traveling on National Highway 1A, there are many trucks such as the section from Phan Rang to Dau Giay, the section from Dau Giay to Da Lat has many steep passes, pay attention to speed and observe carefully when going through Bao Loc Pass. Following this route, tourists have two stops in Phan Rang and Bao Loc Pass.

Traveling by bus: Popular sleeper bus companies include Phuong Trang and Cuc Tung, departing from Nha Trang bus station and going straight to Da Lat via Dau Giay intersection. Travel time is about 9 hours. Ticket prices range from 300,000-400,000 VND per passenger. Bus companies often have pick-up and drop-off services within Nha Trang and Da Lat city. Travelers should book their bus at least 1-2 days before departure to choose a comfortable seat.

Nha Trang - Buon Ma Thuot - Da Lat route via National Highway 26 and 27

- Distance: 410 km

- Travel time: 8-9 hours, depending on traffic conditions and vehicle.

Tourists depart from Nha Trang along Highway 26 northwest to Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak . From here, tourists continue along Highway 27 through Lak district, Dak Lak, to Dam Rong district, Lam Dong and move straight to Da Lat city.

Traveling on your own: Tourists should divide the trip into two stages. The first stage follows Highway 26 from Nha Trang to Buon Ma Thuot, a 180 km route that takes 3.5-4 hours. This section passes through M'drak Pass, the driver needs to concentrate on the steering wheel and ensure that the fuel is sufficient and the vehicle is in good condition because the pass is more than 10 km long and the road is deserted. Tourists can stop to rest in Buon Ma Thuot.

The second leg travels along Highway 27 from Buon Ma Thuot to Da Lat, a 230 km journey that takes 4-5 hours. The road is bumpy in some sections, through low passes with many bends and thick fog in the early morning or late afternoon. However, the scenery on both sides of the road is beautiful, you can stop to admire the scenery and check in along the way.

Traveling by bus: Phuong Trang, Cuong Em, An Phu sleeper buses serve the Nha Trang - Buon Ma Thuot route, then connect to Da Lat. Ticket price is 300,000-400,000 VND per trip.

Nha Trang - Phan Rang - Da Lat route

- Distance: 200 km

- Travel time: 5-6 hours

Traveling on your own: From Nha Trang, visitors follow National Highway 1A south to Phan Rang - Thap Cham, Ninh Thuan. This route is about 100 km, takes two hours, the road is flat, passing through some coastal sections. Visitors can stop to admire the scenery at Ninh Chu beach, Thai An vineyard, An Hoa sheep field.

From Phan Rang, visitors turn right onto Highway 27 and continue to Da Lat through Ngoan Muc Pass, a 100 km long route that takes 3-4 hours. Visitors should note that Highway 27 has many steep passes, so they need to be confident in their driving skills. Visitors can stop to admire the scenery at Ngoan Muc Pass and Pongour Waterfall.

Travel by bus: Phuong Trang, Lien Hung or An Phu buses run this route with prices ranging from 250,000-300,000 VND per trip.
