On the morning of April 23, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association coordinated with the Ministry of National Defense , the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, and the Hanoi Party Committee to organize a meeting between Party and State leaders and representatives of veterans and former youth volunteers on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024). Lao Cai had 3 veterans attending this meeting.
Attending the meeting were comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; comrade Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Party Central Committee member, Acting President; comrades of the Politburo and 300 delegates of veterans and former youth volunteers from provinces and cities who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
This is a meaningful activity, demonstrating the beautiful morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "Repaying gratitude" of the nation.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member and Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, emphasized: We will forever remember the great contributions of our predecessors, revolutionary veterans, heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, generals, cadres, soldiers, youth volunteers, frontline workers and the people of the whole country who fought bravely, sacrificed, and contributed human and material resources to the arduous long-term resistance war to create the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu.
He believes that the veteran force and former youth volunteers will continue to make worthy contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; spreading and educating the younger generation in patriotism and national pride, continuing the glorious heroic tradition, contributing to the country's rapid and sustainable development, and successfully achieving the set goals.


Lao Cai province has 3 outstanding veterans honored to attend the meeting, they are veterans: Be Sam, enlisted in 1951, currently residing in Binh Minh ward, Lao Cai city; Nguyen Cong Su, enlisted in 1952 and Vu Van Sinh, enlisted in 1950, currently residing in Pho Lu town, Bao Thang district.
Following the call of the Party, the three veterans volunteered to join the army at a very young age, directly serving on the Dien Bien Phu battlefield. With a spirit of determination, overcoming all difficulties, hardships and dangers, the veterans and their comrades contributed their efforts and blood to the glorious Dien Bien Phu Victory.
Proud to be Dien Bien soldiers, when they returned to their hometown after being discharged from the army, the veterans enthusiastically worked and produced, setting a good example of lifestyle and morality for their children and grandchildren, local people and actively participating in activities to educate the younger generation about historical traditions and revolutionary traditions.
