In Singaporean culture, Mid-Autumn Festival is a season of family reunion. On this occasion, the streets of Singapore are brighter than ever and many entertainment activities are organized. Below are addresses to help visitors enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere when coming to Singapore, according to suggestions from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

Mid-Autumn Festival at Gardens by the Bay

Time: 15/9-1/10. Location: 18 Marina Gardens Drive

Visit Gardens by the Bay during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and you can admire the lantern exhibition inspired by Chinese mythology, which celebrates the reunion and connection between loved ones. At the Flower Dome, you will learn about more than 80 species of chrysanthemums, including species that are only found in Southeast Asia. You should also not miss the opportunity to enjoy special mooncakes with macadamia rose and melon seed flavors that are only available here.

Gardens by the Bay's festive programme with traditional music performances and entertainment activities is the ideal experience for the whole family.

Festival in Chinatown

Time: 15/9-14/10. Location: 2 Banda Street

Families will be in the Mid-Autumn Festival spirit in Chinatown, where the streets are lit up with sparkling lanterns. This year’s festival, themed “A Journey of Love and Celebration,” will take place at Kreta Ayer Square.

From 15 September to 14 October, when the sun sets, New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen, South Bridge Road and Upper Cross Street will transform into a world of festivals. Visitors should visit the fair in front of the People's Park Complex or the food court at Smith Street to shop for handicrafts and enjoy specialties.

In addition, visitors can visit 12 Tai Gin Road to participate in the Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival. Here, you can pose in front of outdoor installations, check-in with giant panda lanterns only available during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Join the lantern and moon cake making class

Address: 120 McNair Spring (lantern making) and 333 Kreta Ayer (moon cake making)

Enjoy the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival by making your own paper lanterns at Artisan Han studio. Visitors can choose the appropriate course according to their interests and level, from drawing decorative lanterns, simple lantern cutting and pasting, to creating traditional lantern shapes.

In addition, visitors can join classes to make mooncakes and snowskin mooncakes. These are two traditional dishes of Singaporeans. By joining the course, you will be given detailed instructions on basic theory, ingredients and baking techniques so that you can make these two cakes yourself. If you do not like to make cakes, visitors can visit the shopping stalls at Takashimaya at 391A Orchard Road, which sells more than 50 types of mooncakes, from local to international.
