34 Vietnamese students won prizes at the 2023 WMI International Mathematics Competition

At the 2023 WMI International Mathematics Competition held in Korea, 34 students from the Vietnamese delegation (27 from Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi ) all won prizes.

The Vietnamese student delegation participating in the 2023 WMI International Mathematics Competition all won excellent prizes.

The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 2023 World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) was held on the evening of July 18 in Seoul, South Korea. The Vietnamese student delegation achieved excellent results when 34/34 participating contestants won prizes.

Of which, Hoan Kiem district (Hanoi) contributed 27 medals including 5 Gold medals, 6 Silver medals, 11 Bronze medals, 5 Encouragement prizes and 1 special World Star Cup for the contestant with the highest score among the contestants of the Vietnamese delegation, belonging to Dang Anh Tuan - a student of class 8H, Trung Vuong Secondary School.

5 contestants won Gold Medals at the competition.

The five Gold Medal winners include: Nguyen Hong Son, Nguyen Hoang Quoc Anh, Dang Anh Tuan, all from Trung Vuong Secondary School; Nguyen Dinh Phong and Nguyen Quang Bao, students from Ngo Si Lien Secondary School.

Taking place from July 14 to 18, this year's exam had more than 3,000 candidates from 25 countries and territories around the world participating, including: the United States, China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Macao, Iran, Bulgaria, India, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Myanmar, Australia, Brazil, Türkiye and Laos.

With two parts of Multiple Choice and Essay, candidates compete to win Gold, Silver, Bronze and Encouragement Medals.

Previously, member countries held local preliminary rounds before May every year to select the best candidates to compete. The final round of the 2023 WMI International Mathematics Competition was held at Yonsei University - one of the top 100 universities in the world and only the top 1% of students in Korea can attend.

The success of the Hoan Kiem District student delegation representing Vietnam in this exam continues the proud achievements of the capital's students in general and Hoan Kiem students in particular. After each exam, the greatest achievement of each student is not only the thrilling moments of competition and the noble awards, but also the opportunity for each student to become an ambassador to promote the image of the country and the friendly, hospitable Vietnamese people.
