5 people missing, 4 injured due to landslide

According to initial information, at 10:00 a.m. on May 16, 2025, a group of 9 workers from Dung Phuc Loc Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Nghe An province) were excavating sand to straighten the flow of Ta Pao Ho stream for construction when rocks and soil on the slope of the river collapsed and buried them. As a result, 4 people were injured, including: Doan Van Vinh (born in 1984, permanent residence in Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province); Lu Van Phan (born in 1985, permanent residence in Que Phong district, Nghe An province); Lu Van Than (born in 1985, permanent residence in Que Phong district, Nghe An province); Luong Van Sinh (born in 1970, permanent residence in Que Phong district, Nghe An province). 5 people were missing due to the landslide, including: Luong Van Ha (born in 1987, permanent residence in Que Phong district, Nghe An province); Phan Lao Lo (born in 2009), Ly Lao San (born in 2008), Tan U May (born in 1984), Tan Su May (born in 1986) all reside in La Nhi Thang village, Si Lo Lau commune, Phong Tho district, Lai Chau province).

The initial cause was determined to be due to prolonged heavy rain in the area in recent days causing landslides.

Immediately after receiving the information, the People's Committee of Si Lo Lau Commune and Si Lo Lau Border Guard Station reported to the Provincial Border Guard Command, the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Phong Tho District. Si Lo Lau Border Guard Station sent a force of 12 officers and soldiers to approach the scene, organized search and rescue, and used the unit's car to take 4 injured people to the Si Lo Lau Commune Health Station for emergency treatment. Coordinated with the Commune Police force to protect the scene, make a record of the incident, take statements; grasp public opinion, propagate to stabilize the situation, visit and encourage families with missing people.
