Forever the spring of victory

To summarize, right after the resistance war against the US to save the country, on the land of Long An - Kien Tuong, there were 26,929 martyrs who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. In the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign , the army and people of Long An and Kien Tuong, together with the forces of the region and area, eliminated 52,000 enemies from the battle, completely liberated the homeland, contributing worthily to the glorious revolutionary cause of the whole country.

During the time participating in the General Offensive and Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the Long An and Kien Tuong Provincial Party Committees directly and comprehensively led the resistance war in their localities.

With the efforts of the entire army and people, the Party Committee of Long An and Kien Tuong successfully completed all assigned tasks of serving the fight, self-liberating and directly participating in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, contributing to the liberation of Saigon and the liberation of the South. That was a great contribution, honor and pride of the Party Committee and the People of Long An and Kien Tuong in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

According to the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the victory of Long An's army and people in the resistance war against the US to save the country was an important result, contributing to the country's greatest common achievement in the cause of national liberation and defense of the Fatherland led by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.

After the country's liberation, Long An merged with Kien Tuong province and Duc Hoa and Duc Hue districts of Hau Nghia province to form Long An province with the administrative boundaries as they are today.

Since then, the government, army and people of Long An have joined hands to overcome the consequences, heal the wounds of war and rise up to build the homeland and the country.

After the country's reunification, Long An and the whole country entered the transition period to socialism under many difficulties and challenges.

During the period 1975-1985, the Party Committee, government and people of Long An promoted the glorious historical tradition, focused on healing the wounds of war, made efforts to restore and develop the economy, and solved many social problems.

Since October 1980, Long An has made a breakthrough in implementing the "one price" mechanism, contributing to the whole country in eliminating the centralized bureaucratic and subsidized mechanism; advancing to open up Dong Thap Muoi, turning the barren, heavily acidic land into a key food production area of ​​the province and the whole region.

After nearly 40 years of implementing the Party's renovation policy and 50 years of liberation, the Party Committee, people and army of Long An have constantly strived and achieved many important achievements in many fields. Coming to Long An today, we can see the strong development of this land rich in heroic traditions.

From the formerly barren Dong Thap Muoi region, it has now "changed its skin and flesh", becoming a fertile plain with vast rice fields, closed dikes and a major food production area of ​​the entire region.

In key districts for industrial development such as Duc Hoa, Ben Luc, Can Duoc, Can Giuoc,... industrial parks, clusters, and urban areas are springing up bustlingly. A series of projects have been put into operation, creating jobs for hundreds of thousands of workers, contributing to the strong socio-economic development of the province.

According to the Long An Provincial Party Committee, promoting revolutionary heroism and the tradition of "Loyalty and steadfastness, the whole people fight the enemy" during the resistance war, half a century has passed, the Party Committee and the people of Long An have continuously strived to innovate thinking, first of all, innovate economic thinking, implement the policy of "The State and the People work together", accounting in production and business, and promote administrative reform.

At the same time, focus human and financial resources on building infrastructure, transportation, irrigation, applying scientific and technological advances, shifting economic structure; reallocating labor and land, attracting investment resources to develop agriculture and build industrial parks and clusters.

In particular, the 2020-2025 term has identified 3 breakthrough programs and 3 key projects: Program for Developing High-Tech Agriculture in Association with Restructuring the Agricultural Sector; Program for Mobilizing All Resources to Build a Synchronous Transport Infrastructure System to Serve Industrial and Urban Development in the Key Economic Zone of the Province; Program for Training Human Resources to Meet the Needs of Industrial and Agricultural Development of the Province and Key Projects: Completing Tan An City Ring Road; Provincial Road 830E (section from the expressway intersection to Provincial Road 830); Provincial Road 827E (section from Ho Chi Minh City to Vam Co Dong River), creating a strong driving force for the province to develop further.

The economic structure continues to shift clearly, in the right direction. People's lives are increasingly improving. By the end of March 2025, the whole province had 141/160 communes meeting new rural standards (accounting for 88.13%); 52 communes meeting advanced new rural standards; 9 communes meeting model new rural standards. The growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first quarter of 2025 reached 7.2%. This is the highest growth rate compared to the same period in the past 3 years, ranking in the top 5 of the Mekong Delta and the top 4 of the Southeast region,...
