Proposal to develop a project to develop the trekking tourist destination of Co Tien mountain

On May 30, Mr. Cung Quynh Anh - Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the department had just held a meeting with the Provincial Police, Department of Agriculture and Environment, Nha Trang City People's Committee, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association on ensuring security and safety for people and tourists visiting and experiencing Co Tien Mountain area, Nha Trang City.

At the meeting, representatives of the units commented: The sightseeing and experience activities of local people and tourists at Co Tien Mountain are spontaneous, without a governing body, so when tourists have an incident, it will be difficult to coordinate and support. Accordingly, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related units agreed to propose that the Provincial People's Committee assign the Nha Trang City People's Committee to coordinate with relevant agencies and units to promote propaganda on fire prevention, fighting and rescue; strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure safety for local people and tourists; advise on temporary regulations for local people and tourists visiting and experiencing the Co Tien Mountain area. At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies, localities and units to develop a Project to develop the Co Tien Mountain Trekking tourist destination to exploit the potential and advantages of the locality; as a legal basis for exploitation to serve local people and attract tourists.

Co Tien Mountain area (in Vinh Hoa ward and Vinh Luong commune, Nha Trang city) has about 275.3 hectares of planted forest and 301.7 hectares of unforested area under the planning of 3 types of forest; forest fires often occur from March to August every year. In recent years, many people and tourists often organize groups to climb Co Tien Mountain to enjoy the scenery; some cases have gotten lost while climbing Co Tien Mountain at night. Faced with this situation, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee have directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to find solutions to strengthen state management to ensure security and safety for people and tourists visiting and experiencing Co Tien Mountain.
