Vingroup Corporation has just awarded 2024 science and technology scholarships to 36 excellent students, bringing the total number of scholarships awarded to 210, with a total value of more than 640 billion VND, in just 6 years since the program was launched.
6 years of nurturing young science and technology talents This year, 36 excellent students with outstanding achievements in the fields of Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biological Sciences... received a total scholarship value of 98 billion VND. After nearly 6 years of implementation (since 2019), the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program has had 70 out of 210 students completing their Master's and PhD degrees. Of which, 36% who completed their Master's degrees continued to receive scholarships from prestigious universities such as Oxford, Harvard, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Melbourne, Queensland, etc. to continue their PhD studies; 23% are working at prestigious research institutes or organizations around the world to gain experience before returning to Vietnam; 33% have completed the program and returned to the country, taking on positions as lecturers and researchers at domestic universities and research institutes, etc. In particular, talented Vietnamese students in the Vingroup Global Young Scholars Network are making their mark on the world science and technology map as well as acting as a bridge between Vietnam and the international scientific community. A typical example is Nguyen Duc An - a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Oxford, UK. With research supporting humans to control robots, supporting doctors to make medical diagnosis decisions or making joint decisions for financial transactions, Duc An's work has been presented at the AAAI Conference at Stanford University (USA), the AI Summit London Conference (UK) and the ICLR Vienna Conference (Austria). Another typical name is Dao Manh Tri - a PhD student in Energy Engineering at the University of California - San Diego, USA, head of the topic "Low-emission energy planning model to meet Vietnam's increasing electricity demand", and author of the report "Enhancing youth participation in the energy transition process in Vietnam". Manh Tri is also the champion of the International Energy Competition of the American Energy Economics Association and the runner-up of the Geothermal Graduate Competition organized by the US Department of Energy. Attending the Scholarship Award Ceremony on July 5, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam - Mr. Jaya Ratnam told the students: “For scholars preparing to come to Singapore. When coming to our country, you will join the Vietnamese community of 25,000 people - all of whom are enthusiastic about working, studying and creating. You will create the foundation for building a good relationship between Vietnam and Singapore”. The Science and Technology Scholarship Program was founded by Vingroup in 2019 with the goal of finding talents to nurture and develop into talented people, capable of leading the development of science and technology in Vietnam in the future.
