6 secondary schools in Thu Duc City, District 7, Hoc Mon District plan to organize surveys for enrollment.
On the afternoon of March 27, Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that 6 secondary schools are expected to conduct entrance exams to enroll 6th graders, including: Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu, Binh Tho (Thu Duc City), Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School (District 7), Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School (Hoc Mon District), Tran Dai Nghia Secondary School - High School (District 1 - currently developing a project).
The remaining schools will recruit 6th grade students by examination. Based on the actual residence of the students, with the help of the Geographic Information System (GIS), children will be arranged to study in the closest school to their home, instead of being assigned to a ward where they have to attend school in that area.
According to the Department, this year the city has about 128,000 students from grade 5 to grade 6, a decrease of 24,000 compared to last year.

Two weeks ago, the City People's Committee approved the plan for primary school enrollment. In particular, advanced and integrated schools or schools with a number of students registering for grade 6 exceeding the quota will be allowed to organize exams.
Before 2023, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted was the only school that recruited sixth graders by organizing a student capacity test. If they did not pass, they could still be admitted to sixth grade at other public schools. Last year, Ho Chi Minh City added Tran Quoc Toan 1 Middle School with similar recruitment.
The 6th grade entrance exam of the two schools includes multiple choice and essay questions, with a duration of 90 minutes. The multiple choice part includes 20 English questions, testing knowledge of Natural Sciences , Social Sciences, and common sense of life, with a total of 40 points.
The 60-point essay section includes three topics: English, Math, Logical Thinking, and Reading - Comprehension - Writing. The English test will include Listening - Comprehension questions to comprehensively assess students' abilities.
