Taking on the task more than 5 years ago, he had to face many difficulties such as the number of soldiers being insufficient compared to the establishment; equipment and technical supplies stored had been used for many years and degraded; the guaranteed funding source was limited... Faced with that reality, he clearly determined the motto "not hiding ignorance, daring to ask, daring to think, daring to do", using practice to train himself, using the spirit of solidarity to create collective strength.

Major Tran Lam Bang inspected the preservation and maintenance of weapons and technical equipment of the unit.

From the very beginning, Major Tran Lam Bang proactively grasped the human resources, equipment, and work processes; discussed and agreed on leadership and management measures with the unit's Party Committee and commanders. He also worked with the unit to research and overcome difficulties, effectively performing the tasks of preserving, maintaining, repairing, and resealing technical equipment. In the 2019-2024 period alone, the Armored Vehicle Preservation Team organized the unsealing, maintenance, and resealing of dozens of tanks, armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery, ground artillery, and anti-tank artillery; packaged and sealed more than 40 tons of technical supplies. All of them ensured that over 85% of the equipment could be used immediately after unsealing, meeting the unit's combat readiness requirements...

During his direct work, he realized the hardships and safety risks of technical workers when working in cramped and toxic conditions, so together with the team, he researched and manufactured many models and supporting equipment to improve the working environment, increase efficiency, save time and effort. From 2019 to now, the unit has had 6 initiatives and technical improvements put into practice, including initiatives that won high awards from the Department of Logistics and Engineering and Military Region 2.

Major Tran Lam Bang's dedication, responsibility and exemplary spirit help the Armored Vehicle Maintenance Team always maintain stability and solidarity, with no officers or employees violating discipline; the unit is absolutely safe; for many consecutive years it has achieved the title of Advanced Unit, being the leading flag in the K5 Warehouse's Emulation Movement to Win; dozens of professional officers and soldiers have been awarded. Major Tran Lam Bang confided: "To complete the task well, a technical officer not only needs to be good at his profession but also needs to know how to arouse the spirit of solidarity and creativity in the collective. I always encourage my colleagues to boldly propose initiatives and technical improvements. Every idea, no matter how small, if it comes from practical work, can bring great results."
