At medical facilities, the elderly are instructed in disease prevention skills and self-care. 4/8 medical examination and treatment facilities have geriatric departments, reaching 50%; 3/8 medical examination departments have separate examination rooms or separate examination tables for the elderly, reaching 38%; 6/8 medical examination and treatment facilities have priority inpatient treatment beds for the elderly with 120 beds; 72,324/74,919 elderly people (60 years old or older) have health insurance cards, accounting for 96.5%; elderly people aged 80 years or older receive free medical examination and treatment, and when participating in medical examination, they are given priority before other subjects.
The province has 45 intergenerational self-help clubs with 2,455 members. The provincial budget supports the initial livelihood fund of over VND900 million to support club members in difficult circumstances. The grassroots Elderly Association advises the Party Committee and government to support the budget and socialize the initial facilities for the clubs to operate, worth over VND100 million. In addition, there are 158 Elderly Clubs, attracting 7,260 elderly people to participate. The activities of the Elderly Clubs are rich and diverse with many suitable, practical and effective forms.
