"It helps prevent indigestion and bloating by stimulating the muscles of the digestive tract."

By taking just 10 minutes to walk briskly, you will also control your blood sugar levels. This has been scientifically proven.

Research published in the journal Sports Medicine shows that taking a short walk after eating can lower blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.

“Walking after a meal can help lower blood sugar levels by increasing glucose uptake into the muscles. This is especially beneficial for people with insulin resistance or diabetes,” says Thompson.

Adding a few steps each day is key to losing weight and keeping it off. A study published in the International Journal of General Medicine found that walking immediately after a meal was more beneficial for people trying to lose weight than waiting an hour after eating to take those steps.

“Regular short walks, especially after meals, contribute to calorie burn. Over time, this helps with weight control and prevents weight gain associated with sedentary behavior,” says Thompson.

A 10-minute cardio workout can boost the health of this organ, so lace up your sneakers and show your heart some love.

"Walking is a cardiovascular exercise that helps increase blood circulation and improve heart health. After meals, it helps regulate blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease," Thompson said.

"Walking after meals has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. It helps the body use insulin more effectively to regulate blood sugar levels," Thompson emphasized.

"Physical activity, even for a short time, releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones," says Thompson. "A short walk after a meal can help reduce stress, improve mood, and boost mental health."

Getting more exercise during the day can also improve sleep. “Regular physical activity, including a short walk after meals, can contribute to improved sleep quality,” says Thompson. “It helps regulate your circadian rhythm and promotes a better night’s sleep.”
