In his opening remarks, Pham Xuan Tai, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and Head of the Organizing Committee, said that ice skating is a sport that combines strength, speed, skill, and artistry, where every slide and every spin reflects the spirit of conquest, creativity, and passion of youth.
Through this tournament, young athletes will have the opportunity to hone their skills, competitive spirit, honesty, and sportsmanship, while contributing to the common goal of elevating Vietnamese figure skating in the region and the world .
"The tournament also provides an opportunity for scouts to discover and select talented athletes to strengthen the national team, aiming to participate in international tournaments organized by the Asian Skating Federation (ASU) and the International Skating Federation (ISU).

"Especially the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December - where Vietnam will have its first official athletes competing in both figure skating and speed skating," Mr. Pham Xuan Tai emphasized.
Taking place from October 17th to 19th at the Vincom Ice Rink, B2 floor, Royal City Shopping Center (72A Nguyen Trai Street - Thanh Xuan District - Hanoi), the 2025 National Junior Figure Skating Championship attracted nearly 90 athletes from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen, and Hai Phong. This year's championship brought together many outstanding athletes who have made their mark in regional and international competitions. Notably, seven athletes recently won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals at the Asian Speed Skating Championships held in India in August, demonstrating the strong progress of Vietnamese figure skating in recent years.

The athletes competed in 7 figure skating events (men and women) and 29 speed skating events (men and women) across different age groups and distances (including one team event).
Also as part of the tournament, on October 17th, a national figure skating referee training course was held, taught by Chinese expert Wu Yee The.
Through this training course, Vietnamese figure skating judges will share practical experiences, enhance their knowledge, skills, and professional competence; and grasp new knowledge, trends, technologies, and regulations to meet the professional standards set by the International Skating Federation (ISU).

At this tournament, the Vietnam Skating and Roller Federation strives to promote fair play and a doping-free environment in sports and has implemented anti-doping regulations (ADS). All participating athletes are responsible for familiarizing themselves with and complying with the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Within the framework of the tournament, the organizers announced the athlete protection policy under the auspices of the International Skating Federation (ISU Athletes Safeguarding Policy).
The tournament also serves as an important stepping stone for athletes to gain experience, leading up to the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this December – where Vietnam will for the first time have athletes competing officially in both Figure Skating and Speed Skating.
