In his opening speech, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Head of the tournament organizing committee Pham Xuan Tai said that ice skating is a sport that combines strength, speed, dexterity and artistry, where each step and each spin shows the spirit of conquest, creativity and passion of youth.
Through this tournament, young athletes will have the opportunity to practice their skills, competitive spirit, honesty and nobility, and at the same time contribute to the common goal of raising the level of Vietnamese skating in the region and the world .
"The tournament is also an opportunity for scouts to discover and select talented athletes to supplement the national team, aiming to participate in international tournaments organized by the Asian Skating Union (ASU) and the International Skating Union (ISU).

Especially the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December - where Vietnam for the first time had athletes officially compete in two events: figure skating and speed skating," Mr. Pham Xuan Tai emphasized.
Taking place from October 17 to 19 at Vincom Ice Rink, B2 floor, Royal City Shopping Center (72A Nguyen Trai - Thanh Xuan - Hanoi), the 2025 National Youth Figure Skating Championship attracted the participation of nearly 90 athletes from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen and Hai Phong. This year's youth championship brought together many outstanding faces who have made their mark in regional and international arenas. Notably, 7 athletes brought home 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 3 bronze medals at the Asian Speed Skating Championship held in India in August, demonstrating the strong progress of Vietnamese figure skating in recent years.

Athletes competed in 7 figure skating events (men and women), 29 speed skating events (men and women) with different ages and distances (including 1 team competition).
Also within the framework of the tournament, on October 17, a national figure skating referee training course was held, taught by Chinese expert Wu Yee The.
Through the training course, Vietnamese figure skating referees shared practical experiences, improved their knowledge, skills and professional capacity; grasped new knowledge, trends, technologies and new regulations to meet the professional standards set by the International Skating Union (ISU).

At this tournament, the Vietnam Skating and Roller Federation strives to promote fair play and a doping-free environment in sport and has applied the regulations on anti-doping standards (ADS). All participating athletes are responsible for familiarizing themselves with and complying with the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Within the framework of the tournament, the organizing committee announced the athlete protection policy under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU Athletes Safeguarding Policy).
The tournament is also an important step for athletes to gain experience, towards the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand next December - where for the first time Vietnam will have athletes officially compete in both Figure Skating and Speed Skating.
