This rate is higher than that of three other Southeast Asian countries surveyed, including Indonesia (60%), the Philippines (62%) and Singapore (58%).
Sharing the outstanding results of the survey, Mr. Pham Tuan Phuc - Managing Director of Robert Walters Vietnam said: "With GDP growth expected to remain at around 6% in the medium term and an increasing number of companies achieving revenue exceeding 1 billion USD, Vietnam is becoming an attractive destination for international investors and talents". According to the survey, 60% said the economic situation will affect the decision to return to Vietnam or not.
Emotional, social and cultural attachment to Vietnam also motivates many overseas Vietnamese to return home.
To encourage and support overseas Vietnamese to return home to start a business, since 2014, Robert Walters Vietnam has initiated the "Come Home Pho Good" initiative.
This is an effort by Robert Walters Vietnam to accompany domestic enterprises to easily access highly qualified Vietnamese human resources with experience working in an international environment, while supporting talented individuals in the process of finding job opportunities in their homeland.
In the context of the global economy facing many fluctuations, the stable development of many prominent fields in the country has helped strengthen the decision of a large number of overseas Vietnamese to return to contribute to their homeland. Survey participants said that economic factors have a positive impact on them, with up to 66% saying that they believe in the stability and development of the Vietnamese economy, and this is also the top important reason why they choose to return.
In addition, the ratio between high salaries and low living costs in Vietnam is also an attractive factor for 44% of respondents (out of the total number of people who said that economic factors have a positive impact on them). Accordingly, returning to their homeland will help them have a more comfortable and quality life.
In addition to economic reasons, the Robert Walters survey also found that there are many other key factors that increase the desire of overseas Vietnamese to return to their homeland. Specifically, 62% of respondents said that the emotional, social and cultural connection to Vietnam urged them to return home - an increase of 13% compared to the last survey in 2021. In addition, 40% also said they wanted to return home to conveniently care for and be closer to family and relatives in Vietnam.
With the trend of overseas Vietnamese returning to their homeland in the next 5 years, domestic enterprises are facing a golden opportunity to attract high-quality human resources. The Robert Walters survey also pointed out the factors of work, salary and benefits that this group of employees care about. Regarding salary, 27% of overseas Vietnamese said they could accept a salary reduction of 30% or less compared to their current salary if they returned. Meanwhile, 26% said they wanted a salary that was appropriate to their experience and role as well as the general level of the labor market.
Robert Walters' survey was conducted with the participation of 380 overseas Vietnamese from many professions.
