The event aims to raise public awareness, call for commitment and determination of stakeholders to implement the goals of the Kunming - Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework adopted by the Convention on Biological Diversity in 2022 and the National Strategy on Biodiversity to 2030, vision to 2050.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Quoc Tri affirmed: Nature and biodiversity are the foundation of all life and the basis for sustainable human development on earth. Preserving biodiversity means protecting the future of humanity.

Vietnam is a country with high biodiversity, ranked 16th in the world with many endangered, precious, rare species, wild genetic resources... of national and international value and importance. Biodiversity conservation has been given attention by the Party and the State and has made much progress in recent times. The system of nature reserves has been increasingly expanded and consolidated with 178 nature reserves distributed throughout the country; programs for species and genetic resource conservation have also been focused on and achieved many successes.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Tri called on all levels, sectors, organizations and individuals to take practical actions to solve the problem of nature conservation and biodiversity such as: continuing to perfect mechanisms and policies towards harmoniously combining conservation with exploitation and rational use of biodiversity; effectively organizing and implementing the national strategy on biodiversity, national biodiversity conservation planning, aiming at the goal of restoration and ensuring integrity and connectivity.

Along with that is the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity to contribute to socio -economic development in the direction of a green and sustainable economy; promote science and technology, digital transformation in monitoring and restoring ecosystems; support national parks, conservation areas, and wildlife rescue centers to apply technology in the management and monitoring of rare animals and plants.

The parties jointly develop plans, allocate funds and mobilize financial resources, diversify investment sources for biodiversity conservation; strengthen communication, education and raise public awareness about nature conservation and biodiversity...

Also at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Cao Son said that in recent times, Ninh Binh has taken many actions to promote conservation and local socio-economic development in association with biodiversity conservation. Awareness of Party committees, authorities, businesses and people on biodiversity conservation has been raised.

Many organizations and individuals in the province have implemented measures to protect the environment and overcome environmental pollution, thus limiting the increase in environmental pollution affecting biodiversity. The transfer and application of science and technology, the implementation of projects and international cooperation in biodiversity conservation are focused on; many tourism development models combined with ecological services have been developed to create unique tourism products of Ninh Binh.

Mr. Nguyen Cao Son also pointed out that recent studies and assessments show that Ninh Binh's biodiversity is facing many challenges. The total number of wild animals and plants in nature, some rare species are at risk of decreasing in number; environmental pollution is at risk of increasing in some industrial zones, clusters, and craft villages... The abuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agricultural production, unsustainable consumption, and the use of disposable plastic products are still common.

Therefore, to preserve and promote biodiversity, it requires more efforts to "unite, contribute, join hands" to develop the socio-economy along with sustainable exploitation of resources and environmental protection; there must be strong determination in leading, directing and organizing the implementation of biodiversity conservation, environmental protection, ensuring the sustainable development of the province.

Also in the celebration program, there was an activity of releasing rescued wild animals back into the wild at Cuc Phuong National Park and a workshop program "Promoting nature conservation and biodiversity for sustainable development".
