On the morning of August 29, the Yoshine Melody Institute of Educational Sciences awarded certificates of completion of the music appreciation training course to 79 preschool teachers of the Tue Duc Pathway School system (HCMC). These are the first teachers to be granted certificates out of a total of 150 preschool teachers of the system.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi, one of the teachers who received the certificate, said that to receive this certificate, she and other teachers had to go through 1 year of intensive study with great effort and hard work.
Before being trained, teachers must undergo a selection process for musical ability and meet the prescribed criteria to be eligible to participate in the course.
The program focuses on helping teachers understand and apply music appreciation methods to teaching preschool children.
"At preschool level, music is considered a fundamental factor in nurturing children's emotions, developing their intelligence and forming their social skills...
I have had time to study music credits, but now being trained more deeply by music experts has really helped me a lot in opening up children's intelligence, as well as improving my own creativity in teaching," Ms. Kim Chi acknowledged.
According to Mr. Trinh Thanh Thinh - General Director of Pathway Tue Duc School System, understanding the role of music in the development of children's intelligence from the age of 1-6, the school wants to equip preschool teachers with professional music knowledge and skills in a systematic manner.
"In the context that the education sector is promoting that every Vietnamese child knows how to play a musical instrument and music plays an important role in the early development of children, we have chosen to provide an additional year of music training for preschool teachers. We want to bring a rich, creative learning environment and nurture the best emotions for children from the early years," said Mr. Thinh.
Music helps children develop more comprehensively
Current preschool programs emphasize musical activities such as singing, moving to music, listening to music, and playing simple instruments to help children develop their musical, emotional, linguistic, and physical senses.
The goal is to develop children comprehensively through music, forming love for nature, country and good habits in collective activities.
