Implementing the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 on breakthroughs in science and technology (S&T) development, innovation (I&T) and national digital transformation, and Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development, TDTU builds and implements many breakthrough policies to strongly promote S&T and I&T activities.
Ton Duc Thang University has implemented a key research funding program with support of up to 1 billion VND for each topic, focusing on projects with high-quality scientific publications, patents, as well as topics in 11 key national science and technology groups; The University has issued a reward policy for lecturers and researchers whose scientific articles are published in specialized journals in the high-quality group (top 1% in the field), or have research cooperation projects with prestigious international scientists; The University has implemented many policies to attract and support the development of high-quality scientific human resources, based on criteria of academic titles, degrees, H-index and scientific citation level; Promote cooperation with universities in the Top 500 of the world, issue many policies to support international experts and scientists from these institutions to participate in teaching and research at the University as friendly professors.
In addition to the science and technology development policies, TDTU has implemented a PhD and post-doctoral scholarship program to attract and train young researchers. PhD students are supported up to 100% of the full course tuition, while post-doctoral researchers are considered for scholarships based on research proposals and academic achievements. In addition, TDTU also supports living expenses of 8 million VND/month, creating favorable conditions for in-depth research activities in an international academic environment.
With a solid development foundation and the implementation of many new policies, in the past school year, TDTU has achieved many outstanding achievements.
TDTU scientists publish many research results in the world's leading journals
In the 2024-2025 academic year, TDTU scientists have achieved many outstanding achievements in scientific research activities. Many research results have been published in prestigious international scientific journals in the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases. In particular, more than 100 articles by TDTU scientists have been published in journals in the top 1% group by field, based on the H-index and academic reputation of the journal.
Some typical journals include Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, Marine Pollution Bulletin, Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications (Elsevier), Journal of Physical Chemistry B, ACS Nano, Journal of Natural Products (American Chemical Society), IEEE internet of things journal, IEEE Access, IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
4 TDTU scientists ranked as "world influential researchers 2025"
According to the announcement of Elsevier Publishing House and Stanford University (USA), the 2025 list is built on citation data from the Scopus database, recording nearly 12 million global scientists. Of these, 89 Vietnamese scientists are in the top 1%, and TDTU is proud to have 4 researchers on the list.
Establish 9 strong research groups
Strong research groups were established with the aim of promoting innovation, research and technology transfer, developing advanced technological solutions, and building a strong foundation for science and technology development. These are interdisciplinary research groups, formed from 22 existing research groups/labs of the school with outstanding research capacity, led by prestigious scientists in advanced fields of science and technology.

JIT journal increases CiteScore citation index, enters Q1 group in Scopus database
According to the Scopus database in June 2025 (www.scopus.com), TDTU's Journal of Information and Telecommunications Technology (JIT) has increased its CiteScore citation index from 7.5 (in 2023) to 8.2 (in 2024), ranking 21st out of 160 journals in the field of Computer Science. The continuous increase in the CiteScore index over the years is a testament to the growing academic reputation of JIT Journal, affirming it as a leading scientific journal in the Q1 group of the Scopus database. JIT Journal belongs to the Computer Science group and is indexed in both Scopus and Web of Science databases.
Most recently, Dr. Le Quoc Viet - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Pharmacy - TDTU, was honored to receive the Golden Globe Award in 2025, becoming one of the 10 outstanding young scientists nationwide. In addition, students Nguyen Doan Quynh Nhu and Ha Ngoc Nhu Y - Faculty of Applied Sciences, TDTU - have excellently won the Vietnam Female Science and Technology Award in 2025. These are all prestigious science and technology awards organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, to honor young talents in the field of research and innovation.

With the above achievements, TDTU continues to affirm its position in the international arena by maintaining its ranking in the group of 601-800 leading universities in the world according to the World University Rankings 2025 announced by Times Higher Education (UK).
The school's total score increased from 38.2-43.2 to 39-43.5 compared to the previous ranking, reflecting a consistent improvement in training quality, research and academic reputation.
In particular, 2025 witnessed a sharp increase in the number of ranked educational institutions - from 2,092 to 2,191 schools - showing the increasingly fierce competition on a global scale. In that context, the fact that TDTU not only maintained but also improved its score is a testament to the effectiveness of its development policies, firmly affirming the international position and academic influence of the University.
