DTO - According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap, in the first 9 months of 2024, the whole province had 2,242 hectares of pangasius farming, with a harvest output of more than 442 thousand tons.

The province currently has 374 tra fish farming facilities with identification codes with 1,623 hectares of water surface. Of these, 85 facilities have been granted food safety certificates with an area of ​​663.85 hectares; 38 facilities have applied and been certified with VietGAP, GlobalGAP, ASC, BAP standards with an area of ​​242 hectares. The province has 1 Tra fish seed production association (Hong Ngu district) and 1 commercial tra fish farming association (Hong Ngu city), which have demonstrated their role as a place to connect commercial tra fish farming households in the province in purchasing food, environmental treatment products, and consuming farmed fish...

Regarding breeds, in the first 9 months of the year, units and enterprises in the province produced more than 10.2 billion pangasius fry (reaching 75.61% of the plan target for the third quarter of 2024); produced 47.7 million pangasius fish; produced 812 million pangasius fry (reaching 85.51% of the plan target for the third quarter of 2024).

In recent times, to meet the demand of the import market, most of the pangasius farming areas in the province have applied farming processes according to international standards such as: GlobalGAP, ASC, BAP, HALAL... International standard farming processes mainly focus on commercial pangasius farming which must meet the conditions of food safety, environmental protection, social security, traceability...
