The final night of Miss Mekong Delta 2024 has just ended with the result that contestant Huynh Thi Kim Tho - from Ben Tre was crowned the highest position. Nguyen Huynh Hai Lam from Bac Lieu won the title of runner-up with the secondary prize for Best Presentation .

Hai Lam's sad expression when her name was not called as the winner during the beauty pageant announcement caused a stir on social media. Many people thought she did not accept the result and did not congratulate the crowned beauty queen.

Amidst the noise, Hai Lam spoke up to explain that the reason she had the above expression was because she was surprised with the result.

“I expected too much and was too confident in my performance, so when I didn't reach the highest position, I felt disappointed and couldn't control my emotions at the moment.

After this story, I have learned many lessons to improve myself in the future. I will try to return to a bigger beauty playground when I am mature enough," she shared.

The beauty admitted that she was confident she would win the highest prize, so she was surprised when she only stopped at the runner-up position.

Hai Lam said she sent her congratulations to Kim Tho - who was crowned shortly after - and wished the new beauty queen success in her mission of promoting culture and tourism .

Hai Lam is 1.71m tall, with measurements of 90-65-91cm. She is currently studying Law at Nam Can Tho University and was once the school beauty queen. Her dream is to become a judge and open a law firm to protect the vulnerable, especially abused women.

During the final night, many friends and relatives, including Hai Lam's mother, came to cheer her on. Her mother raised Hai Lam since she was a child, after her father passed away when she was only 2 years old.

"Becoming runner-up and shining on stage is a gift I give to my mother, who worked hard to raise me," Hai Lam shared. Her mother was happy to see her daughter recognized by everyone.

After the final night, Hai Lam will continue her studies and carry out activities to promote cultural tourism and charity projects in the Mekong Delta.
