Thuy Van in the MV Tien Len Viet Nam! |
Thuy Van said she composed the song Tien Len Viet Nam! to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification and to express her belief in the era of national advancement.
Happy under the free sky
Thuy Van's full name is Pham Hong Thuy Van, born in 1993, graduated from Ho Chi Minh City College of Culture and Arts with a degree in vocal music and a bachelor's degree in Professional Communication from RMIT University in 2023. She won the title of 1st Runner-up Miss Ao Dai Vietnam 2015; 3rd Runner-up Miss International 2015 (Japan); 2nd Runner-up Miss Universe Vietnam 2019.
The song "Forward Vietnam!" opens with a gentle melody and emotional, proud lyrics: "50 years is a long journey, 50 years of North and South meeting again, 50 years is half a century, 50 years of Vietnam rising up."
Thuy Van expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the generations of fathers who stood up to protect the country and bring independence and peace to the nation: "Everything today is blood and bones sacrificed. Although we have not gone through war, we still hope that we understand that to have this happiness, we have sacrificed and built it."
The chorus of the song increases the tempo and expresses the singer's strong belief: "Let's sing the song of Vietnam, let's sing the song of tomorrow. Living together under the sky of freedom is happiness for us to build and advance Vietnam together!"
Confident in the future
As a contestant at the Miss International 2015 pageant, Thuy Van boldly performed her own song, My Vietnam, in both Vietnamese and English versions. Not only did she express herself sympathetically, Thuy Van also cleverly introduced the beauty of Vietnam and its people to international friends through this song.
“With My Vietnam, I send a lot of love, respect and pride for the Fatherland. The song's messages will add spiritual strength and connect the faith of millions of Vietnamese hearts,” Thuy Van expressed.
Thuy Van filmed the MV Tien Len Viet Nam! at the historical site of the Independence Palace and the central area of Ho Chi Minh City in mid-April 2025. The runner-up shared: “As someone born after the historical milestone of 1975 and also a child of the city named after Uncle Ho, I clearly feel the rapid changes and development of the city and the country every day. That brings a feeling of pride and confidence in the era of national growth.”
By introducing the song Tien Len Viet Nam!, Thuy Van also expressed her awareness of "her personal responsibility as a mother and a startup entrepreneur to contribute to the future of her homeland".
