334 thousand new homes from the movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses"

On August 26, at the Government Office , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference to summarize the program and emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses". The conference was held to evaluate the results after more than a year of launching, and at the same time, to express gratitude to outstanding groups and individuals who have made important contributions to this special social security project.

The event took place in a combination of live and online formats to localities, and was broadcast live on television and radio. At the Hanoi bridge, the conference was attended by many senior leaders: Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Politburo member, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh ; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang; Deputy Prime Ministers and representatives of the National Assembly, central and local departments, ministries and branches.

Reporting at the conference, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung emphasized: For many years, poverty reduction and social security have always been of concern to the Party and State. However, there are still hundreds of thousands of households living in makeshift houses that are unsafe against natural disasters. Based on that reality, at the end of 2023, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh launched the movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025".

On April 13, 2024 in Hoa Binh, the Prime Minister officially launched the movement. Then, on October 5, 2024 in Hanoi, in the program "Warm home for my people" organized by the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with Vietnam Television, the Government launched the peak period of "450 days and nights" to complete the goal before October 31, 2025.

With the spirit of "faster, more determined", the Central Steering Committee has shortened the deadline, determined to reach the finish line early. After 1 year, 4 months and 13 days since the launch and 10 months and 21 days of the "450 days and nights" peak, the whole country basically completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, reaching the finish line 5 years and 4 months ahead of the plan set out in Resolution 42.

Results: 334,234 temporary and dilapidated houses were replaced with solid houses. Nearly 50,000 billion VND was mobilized, of which more than 24,000 billion VND came from the State budget, 5,070 billion VND from regular spending savings in 2024, and 1,940 billion VND from increased budget revenue. The Ministry of National Defense contributed nearly 1,000 billion VND along with more than 140,980 officers, soldiers, and militia with 414,520 working days and 62,920 vehicles. The Ministry of Public Security supported over 790 billion VND, mobilizing 27,400 officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security with 534,000 working days and thousands of tons of construction materials.

This success affirms the strong leadership of the Party and State, demonstrates the superiority of the socialist regime, and ensures citizens' basic right to housing. The emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses not only contributes to sustainable poverty reduction but also arouses the spirit of great solidarity and sharing so that "no one is left behind".

Agribank accompanies special social security program

In the big picture of national stature, the banking sector is recognized as a vanguard force, contributing significantly to the overall success. More than 1,800 billion VND has been mobilized from the banking system in just over a year, demonstrating timely and practical companionship.

In particular, Agribank - the largest state-owned commercial bank associated with agriculture, farmers, and rural areas - has demonstrated its pioneering role. From 2024 to June 30, 2025, Agribank supported the program of building houses for the poor, solidarity houses, and eliminating temporary houses with a total budget of VND 422,515 billion. Of which, the bank allocated VND 254.1 billion for the program of eliminating temporary houses and dilapidated houses as launched by the Prime Minister.

In addition, officers and employees throughout the system donated one day's salary to build 1,000 houses under the program of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union, contributing VND12.8 billion. The total amount of Agribank's contribution to these two programs reached VND266.9 billion.

In 2024, at the launching ceremony of "Warm Home for My People" in Hanoi, Agribank donated 100 billion VND. After that, the bank continued to sponsor 20 billion VND in Hoa Binh and tens of billions of VND for localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Long An, Quang Nam. Entering 2025, Agribank implemented many support campaigns: 25 billion VND for the Southwest region, 15 billion VND for Thanh Hoa, 2 billion VND for Tuyen Quang, 5 billion VND for Lam Dong...

On May 17, 2025, all Agribank staff and employees voluntarily contributed one day's salary, donating 12.8 billion VND. This collective action not only has material significance but also demonstrates the humane culture of "Bank for the community".

The contribution figures are not simply financial statistics, but are the bricks that build thousands of houses of love. Each new house bearing the mark of Agribank is a testament to the philosophy of sustainable development, focusing on the community and people as the highest goal.

At the conference on August 26, Agribank was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for its active contributions to the movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses".

This is not only a financial recognition but also an affirmation of the humanistic identity and social responsibility of Agribank - a typical state-owned commercial bank that is always at the forefront of sharing with the community.

Solid homes not only help people settle down but also give them confidence and hope for a better future. Accompanying the program, Agribank has concretized the spirit of "leaving no one behind", while contributing to strengthening people's trust in the correct policies of the Party and State.

This event also emphasizes the pioneering role of the banking industry in connecting social resources, demonstrating responsibility to the community, and joining hands to build a prosperous and happy Vietnam.

Mr. Minh
