Desire to share
According to information on the Facebook page of the Vietnamese Embassy in China, responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, since the beginning of October, the Vietnamese Embassy in China has launched a fundraising campaign among all officials and staff of the representative agency and the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in many localities of China. On the morning of October 10, the Party Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in China held a direct fundraising ceremony. Many officials and members of the representative agency and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Beijing all shared the same heart towards their homeland.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh expressed his emotion at the kindness of those who are far from their homeland. The Ambassador emphasized that every act of sharing in difficult times not only demonstrates love for the homeland and civic responsibility, but also continues the tradition of “loving others as you love yourself” and “helping each other”. This spirit has become a bond of blood between Vietnamese people, whether at home or abroad.
As a donor, Mr. Le Ngoc Quyen, representative of a Vietnamese enterprise in Beijing, emotionally shared: “Every day, I still follow the news about storms and floods in the country. Seeing people suffer so much damage, houses flooded, properties swept away by water, is truly heartbreaking. We only hope to contribute a small part, a little bit of affection to our compatriots, hoping that people will soon overcome the disaster.”
Having worked and lived in China for more than 20 years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh went to the Embassy to contribute when she learned that her compatriots in the country suffered heavy losses due to natural disasters. “The Vietnamese community in Beijing hopes to contribute and support our compatriots to overcome natural disasters and stabilize their lives,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh said.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese Embassy in China will continue to be the focal point for receiving donations in the area until October 12. All donations will be sent to the official account of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in order to promptly support people in flood-affected areas and help localities quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
Towards the Fatherland
The spirit of turning towards the homeland has also spread strongly among the Vietnamese community in Europe. In Germany, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, in collaboration with the Vietnamese Association in Germany and the Senvang Berlin Charity Association, launched a fundraising campaign to help compatriots affected by storms No. 10 and 11. According to viet-bao.de, in a short time, associations, businesses and individuals have actively responded, sending money, relief goods and sharing messages of solidarity. On October 4 and 5 alone, the Vietnamese community in Germany contributed more than 23,000 EUR (more than 700 million VND). The atmosphere of the fundraising at Dong Xuan Trade Center - the place with the largest concentration of Vietnamese people in Berlin - was extremely warm, filled with love for the homeland of those living far away from home.
Meanwhile in the Czech Republic, according to secviet.cz, on October 6, the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, on behalf of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, donated 1.5 billion VND (phase 1) to support compatriots in the country who suffered heavy losses caused by storms No. 10 and No. 11. Mr. Hoang Dinh Thang, member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, is the representative of the unit receiving this donation. Mr. Tran Van Dang, Chairman of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, said that overseas Vietnamese were very saddened to hear that storms No. 10 and No. 11 had caused heavy losses in their homeland. Everyone wants to contribute a small part to share with compatriots in the country, together overcoming difficulties. It is expected that the next donation rounds will last until the end of October.
Meanwhile, in Russia, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia's call for support for compatriots in the country has also been widely spread. The Embassy, together with the Union of Vietnamese Organizations in Russia, has coordinated fundraising activities so that the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working as well as Vietnamese businesses in Russia can share and provide spiritual and material support to compatriots in the country to overcome the damage caused by storms and floods. As planned, the direct fundraising launching ceremony will take place at the Vietnamese Embassy in Moscow on the morning of October 13.
Wherever there are Vietnamese people, in Europe or Asia, there are still hearts turned towards the Fatherland, the homeland. The material sharing may be modest compared to the heavy damage caused by natural disasters, but the spiritual value from that sharing is immense. The contribution of overseas Vietnamese is the continuation of the tradition of solidarity, the flesh and blood affection between the children of Vietnam, and the proof of the saying "wherever you go, remember your roots". No matter where you go, Vietnamese people still have the same heartbeat, joining hands for a resilient, humane and united Vietnam.
