On the evening of October 7, the Vietnamese Embassy in India solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 79th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024) at its headquarters in the capital New Delhi.
According to a VNA correspondent in New Delhi, the ceremony was attended by Suresh Gopi, Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Tourism of India; Doraisamy Raja, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India; leaders of the Communist Party of India Marxist, the ruling Indian People's Party, and the Congress Party; Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai; heads of diplomatic missions of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and important partners of Vietnam, along with a large number of Vietnamese people living, working and studying in India.
At the beginning of the ceremony, in a solemn and calm atmosphere, delegates performed the flag-saluting ceremony of Vietnam and India.
In his opening speech, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai highlighted the historical significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, opening a new era in the history of the Vietnamese nation.
Overcoming many difficulties, challenges and sacrifices with solidarity and determination, Vietnam has become an effectively internationally integrated country, achieved important development achievements, and is one of the most dynamic economies in Asia with an important role in the region and the world.
Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai also emphasized the good relations between Vietnam and India that have been nurtured over many decades, and expressed his delight at the strong development of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of tourism with nearly 70 flights per week, helping to enhance connectivity and mutual understanding.
The Ambassador also mentioned the successful visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to India and the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and General Secretary and President To Lam.
The Ambassador thanked India for its timely support to Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 (international name Yagi), as well as for sharing the news when General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away.
Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai affirmed that these efforts have helped strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and development of the two countries, the region and the world.
Also at the ceremony, Minister of State Gopi congratulated Vietnam on its outstanding achievements, especially in growth and development in recent years.
He highlighted the strong cultural ties between the two countries and expressed his delight at the sustainable development of the traditional India-Vietnam relationship, built on the foundation of solidarity, trust, deep understanding and common interests.
Mr. Gopi also appreciated the achievements within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including political interaction, economic-development cooperation, defense-security, energy, science-technology, culture-education and people-to-people exchange.
On this occasion, Mr. Gopi also recalled the International Yoga Day event which was enthusiastically responded to in 48 provinces and cities of Vietnam. According to him, this is a clear demonstration of people-to-people and cultural exchange between the two countries, demonstrating the increasingly close connection between India and Vietnam.
Mr. Gopi affirmed that India highly values its relationship with Vietnam, an important partner in the Indo-Pacific region.
Finally, he wished Vietnam continued success in its upcoming development journey.
In a solemn and friendly atmosphere, Indian and international friends congratulated the Vietnamese people on their Independence Day, congratulated the good friendship between Vietnam and India, and enjoyed dishes with strong Vietnamese flavors./.
