This is an important activity, directly serving the process of completing the nomination dossier for the Oc Eo - Ba The Archaeological Site before An Giang province submits it to UNESCO for consideration and recognition. The meeting was attended by departments, branches and sectors of An Giang province and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province.
At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province, Ninh Van Thuong, shared in detail the experience of Quang Ninh in nearly a decade of preparing the dossier of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex. This is a large-scale dossier, linking three provinces, requiring systematic research, a large amount of documents, and the participation of a team of domestic and international experts.
Mr. Thuong emphasized: The preparation of dossiers for submission to UNESCO must strictly comply with technical requirements, based on in-depth scientific research, a complete documentation system and clear evidence. In particular, the dossier preparation process must adhere to the structure prescribed by UNESCO, absolutely not "creating outside the framework" to avoid shortcomings and prolonging the appraisal time.
Regarding the Oc Eo - Ba The Archaeological Site of An Giang Province, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh Province recommended mobilizing experienced experts, especially Japanese experts in the field of archaeology, conservation and heritage, who have participated in compiling many successful dossiers. In addition, the province needs a specialized force to monitor the entire process, ensuring quality control of each part of the dossier and overall progress.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province also shared many experiences in organizing workshops, community consultations, preparing map appendices, photo documents, scientific evidence systems, as well as how to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in all steps from completing the dossier to sending it to the World Heritage Center on time.
The working session helped An Giang province learn more practical lessons, which is an important basis to improve the quality of the nomination dossier for the Oc Eo - Ba The Archaeological Site, aiming to submit it to UNESCO for consideration in the near future.
