The project to build a C-shaped overpass at the intersection of Chua Boc - Pham Ngoc Thach streets (Dong Da district, Hanoi ) started in October 2021 with a total investment of 147 billion VND.
According to plan, the project will be completed and put into operation in June 2022. However, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic and difficulties related to underground and above-ground works and steel beam transportation, the project is behind schedule.
After nearly 2 years of construction, the bridge has revealed its shape.
The C-shaped overpass is built with a prefabricated steel structure, organizing two-way traffic for two mixed lanes in the direction of Chua Boc - Pham Ngoc Thach with a total length from the bridge abutment of 318m, width of 9m.
A representative of the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that up to now, the project has completed the substructure items; installed 9/9 steel girder spans (about 36m long/span); concrete bridge surface (about 300m long)...
The contractor will complete the asphalt concrete pavement, paint the lines, install steel railings, lighting system... to serve the project's traffic opening at the end of June.
The approach road at both ends of the overpass is being graded with crushed stone.
According to the reporter of Giao thong Newspaper on the morning of June 5, part of the fence on Chua Boc and Pham Ngoc Thach streets has been removed.
In the sweltering heat of early June, dozens of workers are still working hard.
Frequently traveling by bus through this area, Vu Quynh Anh (first-year student at Hanoi National University) shared: "Chua Boc Street towards Pham Ngoc Thach often has heavy traffic, especially during rush hour. Hopefully, when this unique C-shaped overpass is put into operation, it can help me and everyone avoid traffic jams and save more time."
The C-shaped overpass, once completed, is expected to reduce pressure at the Chua Boc - Pham Ngoc Thach - Ton That Tung - Dong Tac intersection and contribute to forming the city's traffic infrastructure.
