On the morning of June 10, according to a reporter at the An Phu intersection in Thu Duc city, traffic was chaotic after authorities imposed a ban on motorbikes on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay expressway. According to observations, hundreds of vehicles, mainly motorbikes, from Thu Duc city towards the center of Ho Chi Minh City, were congested on alternative routes such as the highway parallel road, Mai Chi Tho, Nguyen Thi Dinh... causing these routes to fall into a state of congestion. The line of cars moved little by little, lasting from 6:30 to 7:40 with no sign of cooling down.
The main reason for the prolonged traffic jam is that many people do not know the alternative route, causing additional pressure on neighboring roads. The authorities are on duty continuously, using all their strength to regulate traffic, preventing motorbikes from weaving into car lanes, posing a potential safety risk.
At 8:10 a.m., a sudden heavy downpour made the traffic situation even more chaotic. Under the heavy rain, the dense stream of motorbikes continued to struggle to move little by little on the crowded roads. People struggled to move little by little on the crowded roads. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is preparing to start the project to upgrade and expand the expressway access road from An Phu intersection to Ring Road 2, more than 3km long, from 4 lanes to 8 lanes, including the expansion of Muong Kenh bridge and Do Xuan Hop overpass. The project is expected to start in the second quarter of 2025, completed in 2026, synchronized with the An Phu three-level intersection project under construction and will be put into operation at the end of 2025.
