Real Betis determined to recruit Antony. |
Spanish media reported that Betis' leadership team flew to England to work directly with MU last week. At this meeting, Betis offered 20 million euros to buy back Antony's percentage of ownership from the "Red Devils".
The La Liga club expressed their desire to borrow Antony for another season before deciding to buy him outright in 2026. If MU does not accept, Betis will pay to buy Antony's joint ownership with the "Red Devils". This percentage can increase each year, depending on the fee agreement between the two clubs.
The Antony deal is similar to Mason Greenwood's deal last summer. Marseille agreed to pay €30m for Greenwood's rights. If the Ligue 1 club sells the striker to a third party, United will receive a percentage of the deal.
Currently, MU demands a fee of 50 million euros for any club that wants to sign Antony. This is a big obstacle for Betis when the team does not have a good financial foundation. MU also made clear their intention not to let Antony continue to leave on loan - but only want to sell him outright to invest in other goals.
The Brazilian striker himself also wants to continue to stick with Betis after a very successful 2024/25 season.
Betis set a world transfer record in 1998, when they spent more than 25 million euros to sign Brazilian player Denilson. To this day, the deal remains the most expensive contract in the club's history.
