The first university-named team to play professional football in Vietnam

(NLDO) - Closing round 14 of the 2025 Second Division, the 4 teams that won promotion were determined to be Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh, Gia Dinh and Van Hien University.

On the afternoon of June 22, the final round of the 2025 National Second Division ended dramatically, determining the four teams that won the right to be promoted to the First Division, including: Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh , Van Hien University and Gia Dinh.

In group A, Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh quickly won tickets to the top after round 13. However, the race for the top spot is still hot because the group winner will be recognized as joint first place in the entire tournament.

Quang Ninh (23 points) was only 1 point ahead of Bac Ninh before the final round, and they successfully defended their position with a thrilling 4-3 victory over PVF, thanks to two late goals from Van Do and Van Hieu.

Group B is more tense as Lam Dong (29 points), Gia Dinh and Van Hien University (both 26 points) still have a chance to be promoted. According to the format, if three teams have the same number of points, the head-to-head record will decide the ranking.

In the final round this afternoon (June 22), Gia Dinh beat Lam Dong 2-0, while Van Hien University defeated Dak Lak 1-0, making all three teams have 29 points and have to face each other.

Comparing the head-to-head scores, Van Hien University leads (2 wins, 1 draw, 7 points) and Gia Dinh is second with 1 win, 2 draws, and 5 points. Lam Dong only has 4 points with 1 win, 1 draw, so they cannot compete in the head-to-head results and are eliminated.

This is also the first time Van Hien University, a football team named after a university, has participated in the professional football field of Vietnam. Meanwhile, Coach Hoang Nhat Nam continues to make his mark by bringing a Third Division team to promotion for the second consecutive year (previously, Dinh Huong Phu Nhuan, but this team withdrew at the last minute).
