On the evening of November 17, the Ca Mau Provincial Youth Union organized the legendary crab race at Phan Ngoc Hien Square, An Xuyen Ward. This is one of the activities of the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival - 2025 with the theme "Ca Mau Crab: Forest Scent - Sea Flavor" taking place from November 16 to 22.
The legendary crab race attracted dozens of teams (2 people per team) to participate under the cheers of hundreds of locals and tourists. For teams that did not bring crabs, the organizers provided sea crabs for players to choose their favorite "crab players" to participate in the competition.
When the referee gives the starting signal, 4 teams will pull the barrier to let the crabs crawl to the finish line of the race track, which is about 2.5 meters long. The crab that finishes fastest will be selected to compete in the semi-finals and finals. The best teams will be awarded prizes including cups, souvenir shirts, etc.
The cheers of the crowd enlivened Phan Ngoc Hien Square and made the competition more exciting. Many "crabs" made visitors laugh until they cried because they refused to crawl to the finish line and returned to the starting point.
Tourist Duong Tan Loi (45 years old; living in Ho Chi Minh City) said this was the first time he and his family had witnessed such a fun crab race. "My son made me carry him on my shoulders to watch this unique game never seen before from the specialty of Ca Mau province" - Mr. Loi said with a smile.
