Increase the value of agricultural products
In the context that Quang Ninh province is implementing the 2025 Theme on "Breakthrough in economic development, creating momentum for the new term" in the spirit of Resolution No. 31-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, the collective economic sector, with the core being Cooperatives (HTX), is identified as one of the important driving forces.
The development of this area is not only aimed at increasing quantity but also at the core goal of improving product quality, optimizing production value and strengthening sustainable linkage chains.
As of September 2025, the cooperative economic sector in the province has had stable development, the total number of cooperatives is 1,172, of which 24 cooperatives are members of the Provincial Cooperative Union, bringing the total number of members to 351 cooperatives.

To facilitate development, capital support policies have been effectively implemented. Specifically, up to now, 13 cooperatives are borrowing capital to support cooperatives with a total loan amount of 9.6 billion VND. This financial support helps cooperatives to be more proactive in investing and innovating production processes. Many cooperatives have boldly spent billions of VND on modern technology systems, including automatic irrigation systems and greenhouses to control and improve product quality.
Typical of this trend is the model of Huy Hoang Production and Trading Cooperative. The Cooperative has focused on exploiting and processing products of natural origin, especially products from golden flower tea.
Instead of just selling raw materials, Huy Hoang has applied modern processing procedures and built a standard raw material area. Thanks to that, the products of the Cooperative not only stand firm in the domestic market but also aim for export, bringing the quintessence of local medicinal herbs to the international market through the province's OCOP Program.
The promotion of linkages and the application of strict production processes are also evident in the livestock sector to preserve and promote rare indigenous livestock breeds, typically the Mong Cai pig breed. In Mong Cai 2 ward, the organic Mong Cai pig farming model of Van Thanh Phat Cooperative is a vivid example of combining conservation with market economy.
Ms. Dang Thi Lien, Director of Van Thanh Phat Cooperative, shared: "We are determined to retain purebred Mong Cai pigs, but must produce them organically to meet high-end market standards. This requires a strict farming process, from natural food sources such as rice bran and corn, to building isolated barns, ensuring absolute environmental hygiene."
"The biggest challenge is the higher initial production costs, but thanks to the superior meat quality and promotional support from the province's OCOP Program, our products have established a solid position and stable consumption. Organic chain production not only brings higher economic value to members but also contributes to preserving the local precious livestock genetic resources," said Ms. Lien.

Sustainable development strategy
Agricultural cooperatives in Quang Ninh are demonstrating their ability to adapt and develop in a market economic environment, helping rural people stabilize and increase their income.
Discussing the general orientation of the province, Mr. Ngo Tat Thang, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Cooperative Union, shared: "Cooperatives have truly become an effective channel to mobilize resources from the people, an important economic component for development, production, business, job creation and income increase. Developing a cooperative economy is a key task that Quang Ninh must continue to innovate and promote to create a breakthrough."
"We especially prioritize supporting cooperatives to participate in production linkages along the value chain, applying technology so that products not only meet quality standards but also have clear traceability. Relevant units need to step up coordination, accompany, and support cooperatives to overcome difficulties, apply technology to improve capacity and production quality, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the province," Mr. Thang emphasized.
With the right support policies and proactive innovation of cooperatives, the cooperative economic model in Quang Ninh is expected to continue to be an important driving force, contributing to building a sustainable and modern agricultural economy.
