On the afternoon of June 10, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the tropical depression currently operating in the East Sea is likely to strengthen into a storm in the next 24 hours, becoming the number 1 storm of 2025.

Updated at 4:00 p.m. the same day, the center of the tropical depression is located at about 15.3 degrees North latitude - 114.8 degrees East longitude, about 360 km East Southeast of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6-7 (from 39 to 61 km/h), gusting to level 9. This system is moving slowly in the West Northwest direction at a speed of about 5 km/h and is likely to continue to strengthen.

In the coming hours, the tropical depression is forecast to strengthen into a storm, continue moving west-northwest and increase in intensity. If this scenario occurs, the storm will affect the weather in the central region, causing widespread heavy rain.

In the North East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago) and the North of the central East Sea, there will be thunderstorms, strong winds of level 6-7, then increasing to level 8, gusting to level 11. The strongest intensity can reach level 10-11. In the offshore waters from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai and the Gulf of Tonkin, strong winds of level 7 are forecast, in some places level 8, gusting to level 10. Waves are 3 to 5m high, and the sea is very rough.

On land, heavy rain may occur over a wide area in the Central and Central Highlands regions. Specifically, during the day and night of June 11, the South Central region will have moderate to heavy rain, with some places experiencing very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30-80mm, the highest place may exceed 150mm.

From the night of June 11 to June 13, rain will spread to the Central Central region and the Northern Central Highlands. Rainfall in the Central Central region (from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai) is forecast to be 100-300mm, with some places exceeding 450mm. The Northern Central Highlands will have 70-150mm of rain, with some places exceeding 200mm. There is a high risk of localized rain with an intensity greater than 200mm in 6 hours, causing flash floods, landslides and inundation.

In addition to the impact of the tropical depression, the southwest monsoon is also strengthening. Therefore, during the day and night of June 11, the Central Highlands and the South will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, with some places experiencing very heavy rain with common rainfall of 30-80mm, with some places exceeding 150mm.

The meteorological agency warned that the development of rain is still complicated and depends largely on the direction and intensity of the tropical depression (storm) when it approaches the mainland. People in the Central, Central Highlands and Southern provinces need to closely monitor the next bulletins and proactively take measures to respond to the risk of heavy rain, flash floods and landslides.

This afternoon, June 10, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued a telegram requesting many localities to proactively monitor and respond to this tropical depression (which could strengthen into storm No. 1).
