According to BGR , in addition to fixing the above error, iOS 16.5.1 is also said to be able to help resolve some user complaints about iOS 16.5, including HomeKit being bothered by constant notifications; causing battery drain issues; inaccurate weather forecasts; Wi-Fi disconnecting by itself; CarPlay affecting the forward and volume buttons; Spotlight search is still slow when trying to search for an app or other information.
Users can now download the iOS 16.5.1 update
In addition to iOS 16.5.1, Apple is also testing a beta version of iOS 16.6 that brings a feature called iMessage Contact Key Verification. This is a feature that Apple announced in late 2022, but the company has not yet rolled it out to consumers despite the Security Keys for Apple ID and Advanced Data Protection for iCloud features being available in previous iOS 16.x update cycles.
iMessage Contact Key Verification is a feature that allows users to verify that they are only communicating with the person they intended to. This is especially useful for journalists and government officials.
Apple says "conversations between users who have iMessage Contact Key Verification enabled will receive automatic alerts if a high-tech attacker is able to compromise the cloud server and insert their device to eavesdrop on these encrypted communications. And for even greater security, iMessage Contact Key Verification users can compare the Contact Verification Code on FaceTime or through another secure call."
iOS 16.5.1 update has different sizes depending on iPhone models
Users can update iOS 16.5.1 for compatible iPhones by going to Settings > General > Software Update . Additionally, Apple is also testing the iOS 17 beta version for developers.
