In a post on social media X, Vice President Harris said that Mr. Trump had acted "disrespectfully" for political purposes when he took a photo at Arlington National Cemetery despite regulations. The former President and his campaign team on August 26 visited Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia with the families of American soldiers killed in the attack in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2021, when Washington decided to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. During this event, Mr. Trump broke the rules against taking photos for political purposes by taking a photo with relatives of American soldiers killed in Afghanistan, and this image was later shared by his campaign team on social media. Harris' comments came after the US Army issued a rare statement criticizing Mr Trump's visit to Arlington National Cemetery. The US Army confirmed that members of Mr Trump's delegation had pushed groundskeepers and taken photos in a prohibited area. According to former President Trump, he was invited by relatives of 13 US soldiers to attend a memorial service at Arlington Cemetery. These were 13 soldiers killed in a suicide bombing at Kabul airport in 2021, when US forces were withdrawing from Afghanistan. After laying wreaths, the relatives wanted him to go with them to the grave area and take photos with them. However, according to the regulations of the Arlington National Cemetery management board, relatives of the dead soldiers do not have the authority to allow others to take photos in the restricted area.
