At the program, the reporter of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command informed fishing boat owners and fishermen in Xuyen Moc district about the situation of maritime and island security and disseminated legal regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU). At the same time, organized fishing boat owners, vehicle owners and captains to write a commitment not to violate IUU.
The Command of Coast Guard Region 3 coordinated with the district to launch the program "Joining hands to protect the environment" and clean up trash along the coast of Binh Chau commune; organize mobile propaganda to raise awareness of protecting the marine environment on roads in coastal residential areas and propagate IUU to fishermen on fishing boats anchored at Binh Chau fishing port.
Colonel Le Van Tu, Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 3, said that since 2017, the Coast Guard has been effectively implementing the program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen" in 28 coastal provinces and cities, which has been recognized and highly appreciated by Party committees, authorities and people. Through these activities, the unit hopes to continue strengthening military-civilian solidarity, contributing to helping, encouraging and supporting families with preferential policies and disadvantaged fishermen in the area to confidently go out to sea and stick to the sea.
On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 presented 50 gifts including national flags, life jackets, flashlights, necessities and cash to policy families and fishermen in difficult circumstances.
