In recent years, the trend of using renewable energy, especially solar energy, is no longer the choice of a few but has developed strongly. In Vietnam, with its tropical monsoon climate, high radiation intensity, the potential for exploiting solar power is large.

In the context of the national power system being under increasing pressure, especially during the dry season and peak heat waves, the solution of distributing power sources from rooftop solar power models is considered the "key" to sharing the burden with the traditional power grid and promoting the development of green energy.
In Bac Giang province, with the rapid industrial development and the continuously increasing demand for electricity, rooftop solar power has affirmed its role in ensuring local energy security. Some businesses in Bac Giang are becoming models in applying rooftop solar power to both optimize costs and affirm their commitment to sustainable development.

BGG Lang Giang Garment Joint Stock Company has pioneered the installation of rooftop solar power systems with an installed capacity of 1,615.68 kWp since 2020. Since then, the unit has not only significantly reduced electricity costs in production operations but also generated hundreds of millions of dong in surplus electricity from the grid.
Crystal Martin (Vietnam) Limited Liability Company in Van Trung Industrial Park has deployed a 2,675 kWp capacity system, with technical documents standardized according to Decree 58/2025/ND-CP. The Company not only ensures safe operation but also affirms its ability to comply with ESG (Environment - Social - Governance) standards in the global production chain.
Along with the business sector, many households have boldly invested in solar power systems with integrated energy storage (BESS – Battery Energy Storage System). This is a smart trend, helping to optimize electricity usage, ensuring safety even when the grid loses power.
Mr. Vu Van Trung's household (Viet Yen town) installed a 49.68 kWp system with a BESS capacity of 51.2 kWh to help maintain stable household electricity even when the grid is interrupted. At the same time, the rooftop solar power system also has the benefit of effectively preventing heat for the building.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Toan's family (Bac Giang city) also effectively exploited the 18 kWp system with 16.1 kWh BESS to help reduce electricity costs, optimize usage efficiency and reduce dependence on grid electricity.
As of May 2025, the whole province has 602 customers using rooftop solar power with a total capacity of nearly 15 MWp, the cumulative electricity output to the grid in the first 5 months of the year is more than 2.6 million kWh with a pre-tax amount of more than 5 billion VND.
Decree 58/2025/ND-CP dated March 3, 2025 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Electricity Law on the development of renewable energy and new energy, creating a clear legal corridor, encouraging the model of self-production and self-consumption with surplus electricity generation to the grid. At the same time, Bac Giang Electricity Company has synchronously deployed technical support solutions, guidance on connection procedures, safety monitoring and widespread communication to spread awareness about the benefits of rooftop solar power.
The self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power model is not only a solution to save electricity but also an important part in promoting green development of the province. Each rooftop and factory with solar power has contributed to building a Bac Giang that develops sustainably and is self-sufficient in energy.
