On June 9, AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company exported the first batch of AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine with 120,000 doses to Indonesia, marking another important milestone in the journey to bring Vietnam's African swine fever vaccine products to the international market.

After nearly 3 years of evaluation by AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company and Indonesia, AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine has been approved for use by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture under Decision No. 3693/KPTS/PK.350/FI.04/2025 dated April 23, 2025.

The vaccine importer and distributor is PT. Biotis Prima Agrisindo Company, located at Kp. Curug RT. 04RW. 004, Curug, Gunung Sindur Kab. Bogor, Jawa Barat, 16340, Indonesia.

Mr. Nguyen Van Diep, General Director of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company, shared that the export of the first batch of AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine to Indonesia is a testament to the superior quality of the product, having passed the rigorous professional assessment process of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture.

This is not only an achievement of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company but also an important step forward for the Vietnamese veterinary vaccine industry, affirming its competitiveness in the global market with internal scientific and technological resources.

According to Mr. Le Toan Thang, Head of Veterinary Medicine Management Department, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the successful export of the first batch of AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine to Indonesia further proves the effectiveness of vaccines produced in Vietnam in general and of AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company in particular, demonstrating their quality and effectiveness in preventing African swine fever.

Vietnam's good control of the epidemic is also a testament to the trust in the quality of the African swine fever vaccine, thereby contributing to promoting export capacity.

All exported vaccine batches must undergo independent assessment, testing and trials in the importing country. If they meet the requirements, those countries will grant import licenses and allow circulation.

Mr. Le Toan Thang also added that the veterinary industry is coordinating with professional agencies to continue expanding testing, registration and evaluating the effectiveness of African swine fever vaccines on other livestock groups such as sows.

Initial results show safety and efficacy, but further full evaluation by regulatory agencies is still needed.

Mr. Nguyen Van Diep said that up to now, AVAC has supplied more than 3.5 million doses of AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine to the market.

Of these, about 3 million doses have been used in Vietnam, contributing to the effective control of African swine fever (ASF) on a large scale; nearly 500,000 doses have been exported to the Philippines and Nigeria, receiving positive feedback from these markets.

Currently, the AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine product is in the process of registration in many other countries such as India, Malaysia, Nepal, Myanmar...

To meet domestic and international needs, AVAC maintains a reserve of approximately 1.5 million doses, ready to supply in emergency situations.

Currently, the product is being further evaluated for official use in breeding pigs (sows and boars), opening up the potential for comprehensive protection for the pig farming industry in Vietnam.

Domestically, Mr. Nguyen Van Diep also said that AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine has been widely deployed for vaccination on pigs in many localities such as Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Ninh , Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Quang Ngai, Tra Vinh... with support from local budgets.

Practical results show that the vaccine is clearly effective, ensures high safety and no cases of disease recurrence have been recorded after vaccination.

AVAC ASF LIVE vaccine is the world's first live attenuated vaccine successfully developed and commercialized, researched and produced by AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company.

This achievement not only demonstrates Vietnam's advanced scientific and technological capacity but also affirms the position of the country's veterinary vaccine industry on the international map.

Currently, there are 3 enterprises producing African swine fever vaccines circulating in Vietnam: AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company and Dabaco Vietnam Group./.
